' Pompey star's mum drops exit hint '

The mother of Cardiff City target Ronan Curtis has dropped a major hint over her son's departure from Portsmouth.

Cardiff have identified Curtis as a player of interest following another fruitful season on the south coast, despite missing out on promotion to the Championship.

Curtis, 25, has notched double figure goals tallies for the last three seasons since his move from Derry City and knows Mick McCarthy well from his time playing for the Republic of Ireland.

But with Blackburn Rovers, Derby County, Reading and others thought to be keen, Cardiff have their work cut out if they are to land the player.

However, Curtis' mum, Marie, on Friday posted a message on Twitter which will do little to dissuade Pompey fans that he will leave the club this summer.

"No one is comparing Ronan with (Ivan) Toney, but he has to test himself and needs to grab this offer with both hands," she wrote.

"By releasing him, revenue will bring in four players to Pompey's advantage and I wish PFC all the very best.

"See you in the Championship next season."

In an additional tweet, which has now been deleted, Marie added: "There’s interest for him from Championship clubs so don’t know who’s going take him but I just hope Pompey get the amount they want if not he’ll be here next season."

This comes after the player himself dropped a hint on social media earlier this week, when he removed the words "footballer for Portsmouth FC" from his social media account. Instead, his Twitter bio now simply reads "Irish international".
