Celtic's long wait to appoint a new manager is set to end this week as Eddie Howe finally prepares to put pen to paper on a Parkhead deal, the Daily Record reports.

The newspaper says that Howe wanted to wait until Bournemouth's play-off campaign was over before finalising a deal.

After their defeat to Brentford at the weekend, Howe is now clear to sign a contract in Scotland and reportedly wants to bring Bournemouth coaches Stephen Purches and Simon Weatherstone with him to Scotland.

The Daily Record also says that incoming chief executive Dominic McKay has also been closing in on a director of football, but the appointment of a manager has been the club’s priority.
