' Marc Guehi '

By Glenn Williams

It was interesting that Cardiff City's Sean Morrison was named in the Championship team of the year ahead of Guehi, even though it wasn't the greatest year for the Bluebirds skipper.

Gheui, on the other hand, has been outstanding pretty much the whole season, a wise head on young shoulders and looks destined for Premier League football next year.

Whether that comes with Chelsea, or he is loaned out to another top-flight club, remains to be seen.

Again, had the Swans gone up they could have put in a phone call to Thomas Tuchel asking to borrow the England Under-20 defender for another term.

What next for Steve Cooper and Swansea? Join the debate in the comments section below

That seems less likely after Saturday. Guehi will know he is better than Championship level and perhaps the time has come to test himself against the best.

Could Guehi even end up on loan at Chelsea's near neighbours Brentford, where his pace and composure at the back would suit the Bees' stylish play?

For me the most important signing for the swans in the close season will be cooper. Look at the quality youngsters he's bought in over the last two seasons most of whom know him from their understanding world cup run. I hear the Jacks are wishing him gone but without quality loans or American investment they are heading for a mediocre season at best next year.

We say the same about that lot at the end of the season and they always seem to get lucky with good loan signings. Eventually it will catch up with them though and next season could be the one.

They'll lose Ayew, Hourihane and Guehi which have been the nucleus of their success this season. They don't have any players of real value either to make adequate replacements.

For me it's a no contest to pick SM over MG for the Championship team of the season and it takes just a couple of seconds to compare each players stats to understand why.

Goals Score: SM 5 MG 0
Assists: SM 2 MG 0
Aerial Challenges won: SM 221 MG 144
Shots Blocked: SM 22 MG 15
Shots at Goal: SM 30 MG 16

SM is a leader and offers a goal threat offensively MG doesn't and being the leader he is SM does the ugly side of the game better. That's why he is in the Championship team of the season. A better question would be why should MG get in that team ahead of Curtis Nelson who in terms of the defensive stats had an excellent season.

Not only do the stats back it up but as soon as morrison is out of our side we struggle. Great player and captain

Not really paid attention to this player But he was not very good in the play off final Possibly one of Swans worst players on the day
