Unfortunately Page is out of his depth and it showed today.on the plus side beat Turkey and we should go through :thumbright:

We were poor. Took off our best player as soon as we scored giving Switzerland a chance to regroup and put us on the back foot. Bale seems to have lost a couple of yards & Ramsey looked like someone who hasn't played in this team much.

Need to attack Turkey from the off on Wednesday.

Completely agree, need to press much more on Wednesday.

Rob page showed he should not be a manager . Subs were needed ages ago and but for poor Swiss finishing the game would have been over. Taking off Dan James who was by far the best player for us was shocking. I think the Welsh team were stunned. Then defensive sub instead of using the momentum to win the game. Frustrated watching that. Connor Roberts had a shocker too

I think you're being kind to Connor Roberts. He should be nowhere near the next game.

Re: Wales draw first game " Euro 2020 topic "

I agree the substitution of Dan James was a awful decision.

Connor Roberts is awful and a complete liability. Page is well out of his depth and we were lucky the Swiss missed so many chances.

How Vaulks is not good enough after that performance is beyond me!

On the plus side, we were mostly awful, but dragged a good draw from a more than decent Switzerland. Onwards & upwards, surely we can only improve and a win against Turkey who were pretty poor too yesterday, and hopefully are shell shocked and we stand a decent chance of qualifying. It could well come down to goal difference. :thumbright:

Pages tactical knowledge is limited takes off best player after we score and gets one of smallest players to mark their most dangerous player at set pieces while kieffa marked no one just a space... even after several close calls still didnt mark him with kieffa If did that goal doesnt happen.. :banghead:

Denmark v Finland resumed at 7.30pm, following it being suspended earlier due to the medical emergency for Christian Eriksen.

Finland are leading 1-0 at the moment with just over 25 minutes to go.

Belgium v Russia is about to kick off in the group's other game.

Surprised VAR didn't overrule it.

Finland beat Denmark 1-0, a historic moment for them as it's their first victory at a major championship.

But it will be overshadowed by the medical emergency for Christian Eriksen.

Ned var dont seem to get involved greatly with things other than that offside today not sure done anything else? The other thing the goalie had both feet off line saving pen why didn't var pick that up... is this the new norm for var in this competition?

I expected them to be involved even more, as European referees are famously more strict.

But agreed, the Swiss offside goal was the only thing they've got involved in - and that was because it was such a clear offside.

Be interesting to see if VAR are more involved over the next few days.

Undoubtedly it will... one thing wondered why have a lot teams playing at home ? Surely when groups were sorted a random draw should have taken place to see where teams played undoubtedly home games are an unfair advantage to teams?

Does seem a bit unfair that a lot of teams have games that are in their own stadiums and other countries don't.

Our game on Wednesday in Baku will be like a home game for Turkey, they're taking a lot of fans over.

Saying that, home advantage doing nothing for Russia tonight. They look awful, were much better in 2016 and in their World Cup at home in 2018.

Page shouldn’t be anywhere near managing the team, his level is around youth to U21’s at the highest. Im not saying this because he’s a jack but Connor Roberts is awful. Back when he scored against the Rep Ireland, I thought he was going to be a decent player, but every time he plays, he’s normally the reason why the other team has scored.

I don't have a huge problem with Roberts, but I do think Neco Williams is a better player than him in that position and was a bit disappointed that Neco didn't start.

We played that game as if we were just happy to be at the tournament. Probably didnt deserve the draw, so happy to come away with a point in the end. But We were Very sloppy in possession and there was no urgency on or off the ball.

Wales should have binned giggs off straight away and brought in an experienced manager. Dont rate page at all. Bringing off James was bizarre, he was our best player and the only one making anything happen. Connor seems to be the weak link in our defence. Id probably go with cabango and Rodon at the back given they would have played a lot of football together as well.
