BARNSLEY, CARDIFF, STOKE AND SWANSEA BATTLING TO SEAL LIVERPOOL DEAL

Barnsley, Cardiff City, Stoke City, and Swansea City are among the clubs that have enquired about taking Liverpool right-back Neco Williams on loan, according to TEAMtalk.

The 20-year-old featured 14 times for the Anfield outfit last season and has earned a place in the Wales squad for the upcoming European Championships.

It is understood that Jurgen Klopp is a big fan of Williams but Liverpool are weighing up whether or not to send him out on loan for the 2021/22 campaign.

TEAMtalk has reported that there are a host of clubs interested, including Premier League duo Burnley and Norwich City.

In the Championship, Barnsley, Cardiff, Stoke, and Swansea are also understood to be keen.

The Welshman was born in Wrexham but is a product of Liverpool’s academy system, having first joined the club in 2009.

Williams penned a new long-term deal in August 2020, which will keep him at Anfield until at least the summer of 2025.

Cardiff City and Swansea City among clubs 'targeting loan move for Liverpool star'

The two South Wales sides are among a clutch of clubs reported to have shown an interest

Sunday 6th June 2021

Cardiff City and Swansea City are both reportedly hoping to take Neco Williams to South Wales this summer, but face competition from a clutch of clubs.

The Liverpool youngster has emerged as one of Welsh football's brightest young talents, and is expected to play an important role for his country at the upcoming European Championships.

He is also highly rated by Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp and, despite only playing half a dozen Premier League games for the Reds, his progress has seemingly caught the eye of several admirers.

According to TeamTalk, both Cardiff and Swansea have shown an interest in taking the right back on loan this summer, but face competition from fellow Championship duo Stoke City and Barnsley.

Premier League side Burnley have also been mentioned as a possible suitor, having missed out on a move for Wales team-mate Harry Wilson last summer.

Newly-promoted Norwich City are also believed to be keen, with the Canaries viewing Williams as a strong option should they lose Max Aarons this summer.

Williams is set to miss Wales' friendly clash with Albania at the Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday following his controversial dismissal against France in midweek.

The 20-year old was shown a straight red card for deliberate handball after seemingly blocking Karim Benzema's goalbound effort with his arm, although replays suggested the decision was harsh on the youngster.

Rob Page even claimed after the game that the fourth official at the Allianz Riviera had apologised to him over the incident.

Despite being ruled out of the final warm-up game, Williams is expected to return for Wales' opening group game against Switzerland in Baku next Saturday.

Would love to see him here but from what i saw of him yesterday and others will see in the Euros i think if he goes on loan it will be to a Premier League club. He may be a bit raw but he looks to have exceptional talent. Reminds me of a young Gareth Bale and like him he will probably movr further forward in future
