Euro 2020: Wales fans 'won't be allowed in' to Netherlands

BBC

Monday 21st June 2021

Wales fans will not be able to repeat the scenes of their first two matches in Baku
Wales fans will be unable to travel to Amsterdam for the next round of Euro 2020 in the Netherlands, Wales' health minister has said.

Eluned Morgan said police in Amsterdam had said they would not be "letting Welsh fans into the country".

The Netherlands is on the UK's amber list, meaning travel is not advised, while the UK is not on the Netherlands' safe country list.
Wales's last 16 match will take place in Amsterdam on Saturday.

Wales will face either Belgium, Finland, Russia or Denmark in the round of 16.

Speaking at Monday's Welsh government coronavirus briefing, Baroness Morgan said: "We have had some guidance from the police in Amsterdam who have told us that they will not be letting Welsh fans into the country.
"And so that means that we would encourage you of course to stay here and watch the matches carefully.
"If local authorities come forward and ask us for the setting up of fan zones, then of course we will as a government consider that and publish guidelines for how that could be done in a safe way."

She said the government was "far more keen" to see people watching the match outdoors if possible, rather than indoors.
"If we can do that in a controlled setting, then that would be much better than people going into other people's homes."
First Minister Mark Drakeford previously urged Wales fans not to travel to Wales' group games in Azerbaijan and Italy.

Baroness Morgan condemned scenes of fans gathering in London before England and Scotland's match on Friday
Baroness Morgan added she watched scenes of football fans mixing in England "with horror" at the weekend.
England and Scotland fans gathered in spots in London, including Leicester Square.
"I was watching those scenes with horror on the weekend seeing quite so many people mix in some parts of England," she said.
"We want to avoid that if we can, and that's why we will consider proposals from local authorities for fan zones that can be safely regulated."

A few hundred Wales fans did travel to Baku in Azerbaijan and Rome in Italy, where group games were held, despite them being on the amber list.

Italy has since introduced a five-day quarantine to travellers from the UK.
If Wales win their last 16 match, they will return to Baku for the quarter finals on 3 July.

I think Wales has had a bad deal regarding fans being allowed to watch their team play. I think it’s unfair that countries have been allowed to play all their games at home and in front of decent sized crowds.
I suppose I’m a bit jealous!
Just because I'm paranoid it doesn't mean they're not talking about me

So this baroness was watching the fans gather in London in complete horror ? But there was no horror when BLM were tearing down statues and vandalising monuments in their tens of thousands. In fact protestors were encouraged onto the streets.
In those few weeks of these protests up and down the country the virus was very rarely even mentioned.
But soon when people were hitting the streets to protect our war memorials. The Virus was relevant again with those protecting the memorials being accused of endangering life with selfish behaviour.
All to do with agendas that is the only thing that governments are interested in. They are all hypocritical, double standards, lying cretins.

Where in any of her quotes does it say that she said it was okay for BLM to be encouraged onto the streets? I have no doubt she's full of shit about being horrified or whatever but stop making shit up.

They weren't quite so fussy in 1944 when thousands of allied troops including plenty of brave Welsh soldiers liberated the clog wearers from the Nazis.

Short memories obviously for the Dutch.

Whole tournament is a complete f up home advantage for some full stadiums for some and some countries hosting can dictate which fans are allowed
More about brexit than covid
No wales fans allowed the most vaccinated country in the world the danish game tonight full stadium
If they holland allow russian fans but no welsh wales should tell uefa we are pulling out of your tournament if our fans are not allowed this not a fair tournament different countries all trying to take advantage of the situation.

Yeh feck em. Whoever Wales play they will let their fans in be it Russia, Denmark or Finland.
It's definitely an unfair tournament.

Presumably thousand of Denmark fans will be allowed in despite the fact that Wales have done vastly more vaccinations. Weird watching the match in Copnhagen tonight with seemingly a full house in the stadium not wearing masks and not bothering with social distancing. Let's hope the good Baroness was not watching tonight she might have had a heart attack.

This board gets more ridiculous by the day. You're now comparing a football game with world war 2, what next?

Not too clued up on Dutch foreign politics admittedly but it doesn't seem Denmark are on the list of countries allowed to travel to the Netherlands.

But I dunno about exemptions or if they would let vaccinated Danes in or not.

I'm mad to think that the day after winning the Champions League, Chelsea fans were painting Chelsea graffiti in London?

Of course if football lads have never attacked monuments as you so claim, please do elaborate who set fire to the Liver Building after Liverpool won the league?
Or who, if it wasn't an England fan, spray painted "England" on a Russian statue in the 2018 World Cup?
Or perhaps you might know who spray painted Bristol City tags and slogans on a memorial dedicated to Bristol Rugby players killed in WW2?
Maybe you can enlighten us on who the Scottish men in Rangers tops were when they pissed on an ex Spanish president's statue? Obviously you know they're not Rangers fans.
And the Millwall fans who claimed they vandalised Bobby Moore's statue were undercover lefties I'm guessing? What about the Chelsea fans that vandalised the same statue a couple years later?
And the red flare used to burn Everton legend Dixie Dean's statue? You obviously know it wasn't Liverpool fans then? Nor was it Liverpool fans painting "6 times" on St Rupert's tower (the one on the Everton badge) after they won their 6th European title?
On the flipside, blue paint being thrown over the Hillsborough memorial at Anfield wasn't Everton fans but those pesky Marxists? Blue famously belonging to only one of those groups....
Of course at the brave FLA march when they went to London to protect statues from BLM (on a day BLM weren't in London) a Spurs fan pleaded guilty to urinating on a memorial to a Police officer killed on duty
Even here in Cardiff, a gravestone with the CCFC badge was vandalised with spray paint covering the badge and only the badge. I'm not sure how that can be anything but football related.

The Danes will be allowed into Holland as they are members of the Shengen agreement and we are not.

It’s that simple.

Regardless of their Schengen status, Denmark (along with a few others) is still considered a High Risk country by the Dutch government and travellers will be faced with restrictions or denied entry.

We shall see on Saturday or if the Amsterdam police give the Danes the same message they sent to us? I’d be surprised if they do.

My thoughts? Simply the restrictions set in place by the Dutch government. Shock and horror, it’s almost as if countries can change their requirements, which the Netherlands have. At the time of posting that, Denmark and Wales fans weren’t allowed to travel to the game as both countries weren’t on the “Safe list”. However now both sets of fans are allowed to attend :ayatollah:

“that” Happy? I copy and pasted it like you asked :laughing6:
