Former midfielder Lex Immers has announced

Former Cardiff City midfielder Lex Immers has announced his retirement at the age of 35. He signed from Feyenoord in Jan 16 on loan before making his deal permanent.


He played 28 games scoring 5 goals for City. He was released a year later joining Club Brugge, ending his career with Den

Wonder if he'll try his hand at pro darts now he's retired. I seem to remember he loved his darts and was quite useful.

Decent player who, like Patterson after him, was often played out of position as a centre forward with his back to goal when he was much better playing behind the front men. He had a great game at Birmingham on the opening day of the season five years ago but for some reason Warnock didn't fancy him when he took over, though there may have been some personal issues.

Immers was a strange one for sure.

Excellent during his loan spell but once he'd signed a permanent contract his form seemed to disappear.

Warnock obviously didn't rate him and to be honest it seemed as if he'd left quite a while before he actually did.

I believe the reason was his wife and newborn child had stayed in the Netherlands so he was constantly travelling back to see them which obviously impacted his form and playing time. Quite liked him and hoped he stayed longer here but it wasn't to be

He was a good player for us back in the day.
