Steve Cooper is set to leave Swansea City this week

Swansea City are searching for a new manager as Steve Cooper is on the brink of an exit from the club.

The 41-year-old oversaw his side's 2-1 pre-season win against Plymouth Argyle at Home Park on Tuesday night.

He addressed the intense speculation surrounding his future after the game against the Pilgrims, although his comments raised more questions than answers.

And on Wednesday, it emerged that Cooper is now set to have his contract terminated by mutual consent.

It means the Swans are now looking to appoint a new boss ahead of their Championship opener at Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, August 7.
New manager hunt begins

Swansea are hopeful of announcing a replacement for Cooper well before their Championship opener at Blackburn on August 7, we understand.

Work has been under way for some time.

Steve Cooper story

We should get an official announcement of Cooper's departure in the next 24/48 hours or so.

Here's the full story on Steve Cooper.

Well, the bombshell has dropped...

Steve Cooper is set to leave Swansea City.

Cannot keep their managers despite their apparent success and being a proper run club? I know we have had fair few managers but we wanted short term gains so never planned for manager being here long ... but they apeared to want continuation of style but that as lowly been eroded by losing managers just as seem set to push on! So be interesting to see who comes in

They look heavily on who the Manager can bring in, they want managers with good potential contacts that they can bring in comparatively cheaply, like Brendon and Cooper from his England days. When they dry up, or if they are successful they move on and the process starts again.

A recipe to fail eventually as at some point will get wrong man in and hard to recover immediately... so can put them back years bit like us...

looks a bit like their board were quite happy for him to chase jobs in the hope of getting some compo but were not that bothered if he left ?

He'll be off somewhere, he might have to wait for a Championship team to get a bad start, but someone will take a punt I'd have thought?
