Well he scored 24 last two seasons at championship so you never know.

However, I think he has been signed as a back up to our 20 goal a season striker to let him rest when he needs it.

I never knew that mate 24 goals a season at Championship level, surely he’s worth 15mill at least how did we get him for nothing?

Well 24 over two seasons is 12 a season.

Sometimes people get bargains.

Pukki was a free transfer.

A couple of years ago Collins was at the top of his game in the lower leagues and loved by the Hatters fans.

900k, 25k a week striker Kenny Miller scored 10 goals 2011/12 season.

Helguson 8 the year after (when promoted).

Kenwyne Jones 11 2014/15.

Paterson 10 2017/18 (when promoted).

If Collins gets 10 then I say happy days.

We got him at age 30. Not necessarily end of career.

I look forward to his 10 Championship goals and he is surrounded by more quality players than Luton, so hopefully he prefers the doubters and myself a big doubter wrong :thumbright: :thumbright:

What have I allegedly said about Paterson?

I loved Paterson but in a world where we can get the likes of Collins on a free for about 10k a week that’s a lot better value than 20 odd k for Paterson and a 500k fee.

I said numerous times gutted that Paterson left.

He was that. Anyone to have taken the pressure off Moore would have helped. To be fair MM might not have played him anyway.

Collins doesn’t need to score this year. If he helps keep Moore fresh so that Moore isn’t knackered by March he will have done his job.

As usual you are putting words into my mouth Annis. Shall I check to see if you have edited any of my posts to make out I said something I didn’t?

I’m not back tracking. He was signed as a back up to Moore not as a main striker.

I mean almost like that time Cornelius was sighed ‘for the future’ on 45k a week and 7.5 million fee.

Well sort of similar. Maybe Collins is one for the future?

And I stand by that.

He has been signed as a back up. Any goals he scores will be a bonus.

Remember Helguson? Didn’t exactly score lots but did a great job for the team.

Collins is similar.

I’m not sure what you are getting at mate.

It’s not like we haven’t signed players in the past to be back ups to give a rest to better players. Your old pal Warren Feeney was one.

If only to allow Kiefer Moore some rest which will mean we see the best of him a lot more. Moore is a top, top player at this level.

Giles is also gonna be class.

All of a sudden it has a different look to it.

Two class keepers.
Five centre backs who could all do a job.
A marauding right wing back looking the part with one who can step in.
Centre midfield looking functional with options on the bench.
Creativity up top and players who can step in.
Two good championship strikers.

I for one am feeling confident.

I’m concerned about the LWB position, but that’s taking nothing away from a great post, plus most Championship teams will have a couple of areas of perceived weakness. Keeping Moore will also be pivotal this season as he’s one of the best strikers in the division and well suited to our style of play. I’d be interested to see Moore and Collins up top on occasions as well as there are many good passing teams in this division, so there’s no point in fighting fire with fire, I prefer the physical approach.

Great post. The only thing I’d love to add is a Barry Bannon type player for midfield.

I'll take a fit Lee Tomlin. Prob as likely to get Bale here though aye?
