McCarthy: “Not a lot I can do about Kieffer Moore”

“He is so valuable to us, but their is not a lot I can do about it.”
"I just hope it doesn't get to the last knockings of the window, which we are already at.”
Mick McCarthy has said there has been no contact with him from Wolves or any other club regarding the transfer of Cardiff City striker Kieffer Moore.
The Bluebirds front man was reported to be the subject of interest from the Molineux club in recent days, sending Cardiff fans into panic in the last throes of the window.
But McCarthy, who was speaking after his side's 2-0 Carabao Cup defeat by Brighton, confirmed no club has touched base over the potential transfer of the Wales striker.
MICK McCARTHY:
"Not to me," McCarthy said when asked if any club had contacted him over Moore.
"That doesn't mean to say they've not spoken to anyone else, but not to me.
"There's not a lot I can do about it. He's been a very good player for us, he continues to be a very good player for us and I hope that's the case.”
"But if someone else comes in and offers some crazy fee then I'm sure it'll be considered.
"But until that happens, I can't do anything about it."
McCarthy reiterated that the sum tabled would have to be sizeable to prise away the Bluebirds' most valuable asset.
There is no doubt the Board would have to consider a princely offer, such is the financial climate we find ourselves in, but the manager was adamant that he wants Moore to stay put.
"He’s so valuable to us, I hope it's not the case," he said of a possible Moore move.
"If I was a Premier League side, would I be interested? I probably would, depending on who they are, of course. There's speculation around players all the time.
"We all love Kieffer here and want him to keep him here. But we'll see."
It seems incredible that no club has contacted City about a 20-goal Championship striker, but McCarthy hopes that remains the case until 11pm on Tuesday, August 31.
What the Bluebirds boss certainly does not want is for his talismanic striker to be taken away at the last minute, leaving City in the lurch with no time remaining in the transfer window.
"With all the noise that was going on about him and the fact he scored 20 goals and was one of the best strikers in the Championship, I did expect people to call," McCarthy admitted.
"I just hope it doesn't get to the last knockings of the window, which we are already at.”
"It'll drive me bonkers if that is the case.
"If anyone does come in early on and get business done, at least you can organise, regroup and plan for something else.
"I don’t want a bombshell dropping on my lap in the next few days."

So, rumour mill at it's peak or Mick touting his player...? 
Personally, I'd be gobsmacked if Mick were 'happy' to see an acceptable bid come in for City's talisman, as he will know more than most that any monies received will not result in any sizeable (or maybe even makeweight) incomings as a result...
I think that has been made pretty clear by other actions and/or comments this season and to lose Keiffer would leave a chasmic gap in our armoury going forward...
