Mark Harris called up by Wales first team

While doors close for some, they open for others and the latter has certainly been the case for young Bluebirds striker Mark Harris.
Aaron Ramsey, Joe Rodon, Neco Williams and George Thomas have all withdrawn from Wales' September fixtures - a friendly against Finland followed by World Cup qualifiers Belarus and Estonia - while Harris, Brandon Cooper, Ben Woodburn and Josh Sheehan have all been called up.
Harris was a regular fixture for Wales' under-21s side while he was eligible at that age grade and was included in the national team's pre-Euros training camp at the start of the summer.
However, his bright start for the Bluebirds this summer has earned him his first senior international call-up by Rob Page.
The 22-year-old forward was brought into the Cardiff side towards the tail end of 2020 by Neil Harris and has not looked back since.
City boss Mick McCarthy had mulled over potentially loaning the young striker out this term, wanting him to have more regular game time as he continues his development.
McCarthy eventually decided against that after some encouraging displays and Harris will now have a prominent role in Cardiff's team this season.
He will hope to earn his first senior Wales camp over the coming days, too, to cap off a remarkable few months for the striker.
Wales play Finland on September 1, Belarus on September 5 and Estonia in Cardiff on September 8.
Meanwhile, striker Isaak Davies and midfielder Keenan Patten have been added to Paul Bodin's Wales under-21s squad, while Caleb Hughes has been added to the under-19s and Morgan Wigley to the under-18s.
