So, Kieffer Moore is only fit enough for a place on the Bluebirds bench after his 10-day isolation stint.

Collins and Harris lead the line against Hughton's men, but there's no place for Ryan Giles, which is a big blow for McCarthy.

He's not even on the bench, which means there must be an injury.

Will Vaulks is back in the middle of the park as Joe Ralls drops out of the matchday squad altogether, and Perry Ng returns on the right-hand side of defence.

Player availability?

Mick McCarthy:

"We are looking pretty good actually.

Some are coming back today from international duty. None of them are injured. Ciaron Brown played Wednesday so he will have a recovery day.

On Isaac Vassell and Lee Tomlin who are both still injured, my only comment them."

UPDATED:

Lee Tomlin has felt his groin is still hurting so is now revisiting a specialist away from the club.

Injury News: :bluebird:

Mick will be expecting Isaac Vassell & Lee Tomlin to be fully fit now :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

The Opposition's Manager - Chris Hughton

Chris Hughton took charge at Forest in October 2020, when they were bottom of the league. He comfortably secured their Championship status that season, but they struggled to score goals throughout the season.

Hughton is believed to be under increasing pressure, following a poor start to the season.

He has guided teams to promotion from the Championship twice, with Newcastle and Brighton. He managed both of those clubs in the Premier League as well before losing his job.

He has also managed in the Premier League with Norwich City, before again being sacked.

His other role in management was at Birmingham City, when he lead them to the play-offs before the move to Norwich materialised.

Opposition Dangerous Players

Lewis Grabban is the obvious dangerman. He has struggled for fitness at the start of the season, but if he plays then he will be a real threat.

Grabban scored six goals in the league last season. He had injury problems and only played 28 league games. In the two seasons before that, he scored 20 and 16 league goals.

Previous Meeting

Forest beat us in April in the Sky Bet Championship at Cardiff City Stadium, with Joe Garner scoring the only goal of the game.

Paul,

Correct Vassell will be able to play matches with the U23’s , as all injuries cleared up :thumbright: :bluebird:

As to Tomlin he had bee. Told to train hard over these 2wks as his injuries cleared up over 2mths ago, so yes Mick is expecting Tomlin to play for the U23’s as well, if he turns up

Big Mick expects both to go straight in to the U23 team and play, surely that is not asking a lot?
Vassell I can see it happening :thumbright: :bluebird:
Tomlin only he knows himself.

It’s been well over 4 years since Lee Tomlin signed for Cardiff City, he had earned fortunes from us, he owes the club and our fans to get his act in order on his last season.
32 starts in over 4 years is diabolical.

I agree that he should be fit and playing but doubted whether he would be. If he doesn’t turn up he should be suspended.

Sadly it’s to easy to get Doctors notes.

I would say Tomlin has cost our club £millions upon £millions and this is his 5th season with us, thankfully his last.

Nottingham Forest are sweating on the fitness of two players when Cardiff arrive at the City Ground next Sunday.

Loic Mbe Soh and former Bluebird loan man Jordi Osei-Tutu have both been on the treatment table in recent weeks.

Soh has been struggling with a groin injury picked up against Coventry on the opening day of the season, while Osei-Tutu has been plagued by the same hamstring issues he endured in south Wales.

“Jordi will be out for several weeks, that we do know. It’s a big blow for us. But our thoughts at the moment are about doing everything we can for him, getting him back in the best shape that we can," boss Chris Hughton said after the Arsenal loanee was substituted against Blackburn on August 18.

Looks like we dodged a real bullet by not resigning Tutu. Only managed 8 games for us and already injured and out for weeks if not months for Forest.

Early team news

Djed Spence could well be handed his debut for Nottingham Forest after completing a loan move to the Reds, while fellow new arrivals Max Lowe, Rodrigo Ely and Xande Silva are also pushing to feature for the first time.

Forest will be without Braian Ojeda and Mohamed Drager are self-isolating.

Kieffer Moore is likely to be back for the visitors after he had to isolate due to his own Covid-19 fears, while Rubin Colwill and Mark Harris could also feature following their exploits for Wales.

Lee Tomlin and Issac Vassell are out

Sports Mole prediction...

We say: Nottingham Forest 1-2 Cardiff City

Having attempted to freshen up his squad at the end of last month, Hughton will hope for a change in fortunes at the weekend. However, despite the uncertainly over Moore's place in the team, we expect Cardiff to battle their way to a hard-fought win.

What's the point? You've already condemned the team before the game kicks off...

We know you're deliberate in your negativity, so we can only hope the Bluebirds put in a performance that keeps you in your box...

You truly are an embarrassment and no Cardiff City supporter!
