Rob Phillips: “ Utter frustration!Devastating “

ROB PHILLIPS:

“Utter frustration!Devastating draw for @Cymru’s hopes of bidding for top spot and may be even 2nd. Huffed and puffed. @GarethBale11 did everything but score 2nd half with keeper inspired, but too many final passes poor & chances wasted. Kieffer would have been very useful.FT0-0.”

Rob Phillips:

“Frustrating half for @Cymru. Harry Wilson should have scored in first minute, but Estonia have defended good organisation & have broken with intent. Wilson off injured, #Joniesta on. Midfield pace & final ball a concern. Job for Smith or Levitt, perhaps Johnson. HT0-0”

Smith, Levitt, Johnson (and dare I say it) even Vaulks. Would've been better options than Jonny Williams. Even Morrell.

There's a lot of puff in our midfield but not a lot else. Need Rambo back.

We didn't do enough to deserve to win that game.

Very poor result.

Got away with it on Sunday but didn't today.

Thankfully we will be in the play-offs anyway. We should have some important players who were missing for these games back by then, as it won't be until next year. But we will still need to be much better.

Would be nice to finish second in the group but that won't happen with performances like that.

If it wasn't obvious before that Page isn't up to it, then it is now.

Probably the worst Welsh performance in 30 years or so.

It’s lucky we’ve got the Nations League to fall back on as we might struggle for 2nd place. We’ve got a game in hand over the Czechs but unfortunately that’s against Belgium and I’m not sure we’ll get anything more than a draw when we play Czech away :(

Fingers crossed we have a full strength squad come October

Have you been on holiday for the last 30 years?

It was poor tonight but nowhere near our worst in that time period.

What do they watch if in fact if they do watch game? As say was poor but seen plenty worse than tonight..... but going on to tonight we lost it 1st half where we didnt press enough and quite happy playing in front of their backline ..... 2and half took until 70mins to decide they'd better attack if going to win game unfortunately wasted 4 clear cut chances so playoffs is calling but need our 1st choice 11 playing or Giggs back? page is a defender and it shows in his tactics only need look at Belgium goals for compared to ours?....

Results wise its up there for me but I agree its a very dramatic post

Its only 5 years ago we drew 1-1 with Georgia at home who were ranked 137th in the world at the time (I believe Estonia are 110th).

Its disappointing but these things happen in International Football

However, for me the Welsh FA need to sort themselves out and decide what they want to to about Giggs and get a proper manager in. Page is a good bloke but not up to it

Tonight showed his limitations as a manager..

Why play Jonny Williams, he's the worst player in a red shirt, Harry Wilson needs to man up. A heartless performance, not worthy of World Cup qualification. Page needs to go, let's face it Giggs isn't coming back. Who can take Wales forward???

Agreed 21 shots to their 2, we wasted an opportunity, but are not out of it quite yet, Belgium only managed to beat Belarus 1-0 away, which puts our result into perspective.we need our big players back though, Moore upfront, and Ramsey in midfield, I would have thrown colwill on for last 20 maybe.we move on. :old: :bluebird:

Paul, I didn't watch the game but I'm told (and it serms backed up on here) that Rob Page is out of his depth...?

Is that the same Rob Page that seems to have steered Wales to a decent run of results; or have Wales performed in spite of rather than because of Rob Page...?

I feel sure at least two missing players (Moore and Rambo) would have made a difference... :thumbright:

Page is out of his depth. He continued the Giggs philosophy and Bale has dug us out of a few holes but the selection and substitutions are baffling at times.
Too many players are being picked because of who they were. Joe Allan was an amazing player, five years ago, I have seen enough of him in the championship to ask is Joe playing.
Morrell is neat and tidy but that's it, a lovely continuity player but never does anything.
Then there is Jonny Williams, a lovely guy, the red wall seem to love him but he is useless, neat tidy but gives the ball away more than any Cardiff City midfielder but they can all run, tackle and head the ball and score the odd goal all things that Joniester can't.

As we generally do, we have an unbalanced squad with a lot of potentially good youngsters, we need a bit of a maverick in charge, someone who doesn't mind rolling the dice and not the run-of-the-mill Eufa coaching badges graduate, who all play the same way, because a possession-based game with L1 central midfielders is going to make us drop down the rankings like a stone .

Page is slowly but surely undoing all the good work done by his predecessors.

Why on earth would you play Johnny Williams? Isn't he now playing in league 2 or something?

I agree I would have him No where near the Wales squad and he is a League 2 player if ever fit.
But then what does that say about Mick McCarthy???

Problem was had 1 shot 1st minute then 20 shots after 70th minute what was wrong was the time in between ... showed no urgency no attempt to get at them it made life so comfortable they even looked more dangerous that we did when they attacked...... we've had good run results but look at goals we've scored ? We are goal difference 00000 Belgium + 15? .... page is a defender and its showing in his tactics safety 1st.....2 missing players should bot have made a difference considering they are ranked 112 or something rediculas? I can only say it was like watching city tactics without the ball to Moore we play... its important we come 2nd to put us in better position for the playoffs or will find ourselves playing a higher ranked side than us

Too right, it wasn't even our worst in the last 30 months, or if you include the Denmark game, 30 weeks.

Even though I loath to criticise the welsh team we should be beating teams like Estonia but as was said in a previous post we should be pressing up on them they really shouldn’t be getting out of there half I also agree certain players are being picked on reputation and are so called favourites and page being a former defender is never going to set up his teams to attack

The thing about page is not unique most managers who were defenders concentrate on defensive side of game... I made point abou pressing and only need look at 1st half to see the problem and reason why we struggle to score goals generally... whilst the draw wont prevent us getting to playoffs what it does do it damages our Ranking in those playoffs so that we could be the away team instead of home one which is a great disadvantage...
