'Someone was watching down on me on that day' - Murphy delighted to be given 'another chance' at Preston

Josh Murphy believes it was divine intervention which prompted his move from Cardiff to Preston North End on deadline day.

The Bluebirds winger's paperwork went through just seconds before the deadline after a phone call with Frankie McAvoy, his former Norwich coach, paved a way for a move to Deepdale.

And Murphy seemingly jumped at the chance to leave the Welsh capital for the promise of regular game time.

JOSH MURPHY:

He said: “I think within the first 15 seconds I’d said, ‘Yeah, I’m coming’.
“I was buzzing because I thought I’d just be staying at Cardiff.
“Someone was watching down on me on that day to give me another chance. I’m just looking forward to it.
“I don’t really know if I was being offered out but I hadn’t really been playing games and it was something that had been going on for a while at Cardiff.

“Everyone knows that I need to be playing football so I think this was the perfect opportunity, it already feels like it’s going to be a good fit for me.

“It would have been stupid for me to not come here.

“I was actually in bed when I heard of the interest.

“I was just kind of sitting there watching deadline day anyway, then I had a call from Frankie and it all happened dead quick.

“I ended up jumping out of bed and getting to Cardiff’s stadium to get everything signed. It all happened really quickly. When it all went through I don’t think there was much time left so I was buzzing to get it done.

“I was thinking about having an early night as well but I was glad I stayed up.”

He doesn't fit into the system McCarthy plays and has never really settled in Cardiff. I also think the price tag the club paid for him put huge pressure on him from the start. If we'd paid £5 million for him would he have had the same stick from fans? I think he has tried to do his best, he simply has brittle confidence and belief in himself. He's the sort of player who will do well in a winning team but not in a losing one. Sadly when he joined Cardiff in the Premier League that's what we were. I am sure he will have some decent matches for Preston but the same will apply here. He will go missing when they struggle in games.

I can sort of understand that, as he must have been very frustrated on times; but comments like that won't be helpful, if he comes back to the CCS

All it takes is a loss of form (some would argue he never had any for us) and/or an injury

Some good examples of players who went away and came back 'better; for it; and the last of those is Aiden Flint :ayatollah:
