“ MICK McCARTHY HAPPY OVER ALL BUT “

Postby Forever Blue » Sat Sep 18, 2021 7:45 pm

McCarthy was happy over all after seeing his team lose their fourth match in their last five games.

MICK McCARTHY:

"For 55 minutes I was delighted with how we set up to frustrate them. We blinked once, they played through us and we’ve been done.”

"But in fairness to the lads, they kept going and fought until the end which I can’t fault.”

“But I am worried that we never did much upfront and never really threatened them.”

"It’s always disappointing when you lose. But I said to the players that we won’t be playing against them every week; they will be near the top. That’s the standard.”

“We have a squad capable of beating most teams, these were different than what we will usually come up against.”

"Our only problem is that even though we managed to stop them, we created very little until the end of the game."

May 2022..

(we may not go down, but if we did)...

GW: "So Mick, how are you preparing the club for life in Lge 1"

MM: "The lads did ever so well, we just didnt score enough goals and let a few too many in at the back - but overall I'm delighted. We'll not be playing teams like that next season'

GW: 'Any news on Vassell and Tomlin Mick?'

MM: 'Eee, you know more than me Glen'

GW: 'Thanks Mick, great interview'

MM: 'Love ya Glen..'

Probably the most boring defensive manager we have had in the last 15 years he hardly fills any fan with any feel good factor
he' s happy with the sqaud.
I don' t know how long fans are going to keep watching his tactics of defending at all costs
At least warnock did set up to give it a go and take the game to the opposition
Mick seems to accept that we are not going to be able to overcome any team near the top or is the fact he does not know how to get at teams
Its going to be a very long season with dwindiling crowds due to mick mc arthys awful tactics of defend defend defend no wonder he let the wingers leave the club there not needed in his head will be glad when he goes and takes his defensive mindset with him.

How can you be "happy overall" when you have just lost at home?

We were playing Bournemouth, a good side admittedly, but not Man City. And we beat them at their place at the back end of last season.

When we were in the premier league , we knew we were always going to set up like yesterday.

To see us play the same way against another championship team and not for the first time this season is unacceptable and especially at home was shocking.

The lack of quality in the team is the worst we have seen for 15 years or so.

Vincent Tan wlll get the club he deserves, the fans deserve better.

Change needs to happen and at the top of the pyramid, a DOF who is trusted and allowed to bring in the players required to progress from the dross currently on offer.

Well Ipswich fans did warn us about him. He is a defensive manager who is far more interested in not losing than winning. It's a bit much when he is happy to not lose by too much at home to Bournmouth, as someone said they are not exactly Man City.

He is disappointed we didn't create much up front when he picks a very defensive line up? Five defenders and one striker at home.
