Ryan Giles back, a big boost?

"Absolutely, yeah. He has only had two or three days back, so I can’t say he’s functioning fully and up to full speed.

But he’ll be in the squad tomorrow and hopefully then he’ll be back playing Tuesday and maybe Saturday as well."

Mick McCarthy :bluebird:

:bluebird: Team news:

Ryan Giles is available again after having Covid :bluebird:

Joe Ralls is the one that’s missing, that’s it. Everyone else is alright.

The usual other names are still out Lee Tomlin & Isaac Vassell.

The Opposition's Manager - Tony Mowbray

Experienced manager Tony Mowbray has been in charge of Blackburn since February 2017.

He failed to keep them in the Championship in his first season, although they were in a perilous position when he was appointed.

However, the following season, he guided them back to the Championship at the first attempt.

Since then, they have achieved mid table finishes in the Championship in every season - finishing in 15th, 11th and 15th.

He had previously been in charge of Hibernian, West Brom, Celtic, Middlesbrough and Coventry.

He guided West Brom to the Championship title in 2008, before being relegated in 2009.

When he was at Coventry, he got them promoted to League One in 2015.

Opposition Dangerous Players

Since the departure of Adam Armstrong to Southampton this summer, Blackburn needed someone to step up.

Thankfully for them, Ben Brereton Diaz has done that.

He has scored four league goals already this season, also getting an assist.

He has had a remarkable few months, having also recently earning caps for Chile - scoring in their victory over Bolivia.

Previous Meeting

We drew 2-2 at home to Blackburn in April.

TEAM NEWS: :bluebird:

"Lee Tomlin had a repair operation on a groin problem at the beginning of the week, so will be out for a while."

Its hoped Tomlin will be fit now by the end of October.

"Isaac is back in training because he was a close contact to somebody, who had Covid, so had to isolate again."

Mick McCARTHY:

" Joe Ralls will be out up to a month with a groin problem ."

"Ryan’s got Covid, so he's isolated," McCarthy replied when asked about his latest injury concerns."

"So it'll be the 10 days from when he got it and we've got to see how he feels when he comes back of course.” (10 days will have passed by Blackburn game).

Blackburn Rovers:

Blackburn Rovers have been handed good news ahead of their clash with the Bluebirds this weekend.

Rovers boss Tony Mowbray has revealed that Sam Gallagher will return for the clash at Ewood Park after missing games against Hull City and Barnsley with a thigh strain.

And Mowbray believes Gallagher's inclusion will be a big factor in dealing with Cardiff's potent physical threat on Saturday afternoon.

“If Sam gets through the next day’s training then I’d expect him to be back in contention to play," Mowbray said.

“He’ll be important against Cardiff to bring a physicality that we might need.

“I think I read that Cardiff have scored 10 of their 11 goals through headers, so it’s important because he’s a physical presence in both boxes.

“It will be a welcome addition to the group if he makes it.

“I think it’ll probably be just Sam who we can add to the squad from the one that we took for the last game at Barnsley.”

Seven of the last 10 league meetings between Blackburn Rovers and Cardiff City have ended as draws, including both matches last season.

The last five league meetings between Blackburn and Cardiff at Ewood Park have ended as a draw, with the last two ending goalless.

Blackburn have won five of their last seven home league matches (D1 L1), as many victories as in their previous 19 games at Ewood Park beforehand.

Cardiff are yet to score a single Championship goal in the opening 45 minutes this season, with the earliest of their 11 goals coming in the 52nd minute. Indeed, their first eight league goals this season were all headers, which is still currently double that of any other side so far.

Mick McCarthy has lost eight of his last 10 away league games against Blackburn Rovers (W1 D1), with his only win coming in August 2011 in the Premier League with Wolves.

Another tough game today with an even harder one to follow on Tuesday evening, so we need to take something from the game today

Good to see Ryan Giles nearing a comeback and his presence (when/if it happens) will surely be a boost

I'm not one to predict results but I believe we can come away with our points total increased and I'll be rooting for the City XI for 90 mins rather than looking for the negatives for the same amount of time...

C'mon, you Bluebirds...! :ayatollah: :bluescarf: :bluebird:

Keiffer Moore working hard to create the opportunities he should be on the end of...

The Bluebirds coming into the game a lot more, as the game settles into a routine that somewhat favours the Bluebird set-up and then a counter attack from Blackburn sees Sam Gallagher score the opener for the home team...

Now wait for it... ;)

We need a goal before half-time to set the second half up for any possible comeback...
