The lack of creative spark - and the man that can solve it

That brings us to other key point.

There's a noticeable lack of creativity in this team at the moment.

As talented as Moore is, he simply can't do it all on his own.

Rubin Colwill and Mark Harris clearly have very bright futures, but they simply cannot be relied on to provide the spark needed on a regular basis.

How they could have done with a fit and firing Lee Tomlin on Saturday, but City cant depend on him.

Tomlin looks to be way away from a return, but he's perhaps not the most pressing priority for McCarthy's medical team at the moment.

Ryan Giles has already delighted Cardiff fans since arriving on loan from Wolves, and is perhaps the strongest possible candidate for filling the Harry Wilson-shaped hole in this XI.

Giles has put in a total of 58 crosses so far this season, way ahead of second-placed Joel Bagan on 22, despite playing three games less, and already sits joint-top of the assist table across the entire league.

McCarthy has already admitted that he's not sure when the winger will return, given he's currently recovering from Covid, but getting him back has to be considered a top priority.
