Former Sheffield Wednesday winger Kadeem Harris is reportedly close to finalising a surprise move to the Ukraine.

The 28-year-old, a free agent since leaving the Owls at the end of last season, is set to join Metalist Kharkiv, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Harris was briefly on trial with Championship club Reading back in July but failed to earn a permanent contract. He was also heavily linked with a move to Middlesbrough and a reunion with Neil Warnock.

The ex-Wycombe Wanderers and Cardiff City, who racked up 88 appearances for Wednesday in a two-year spell, hitting three goals, often flattered to deceive following a promising start to his Owls career.

After his Wednesday exit, Harris posted on his Instagram account: "I just want to thank everybody at @swfcofficial, players, staff and fans especially for all the love and support you’ve shown me and this team for the last two seasons.

"It’s a shame things didn’t end as well as they started nevertheless it was an honour to wear the shirt and I’ll always have love and respect for you all. I wish you nothing but the best for the future and I’m sure you’ll bounce back next season!"

Assuming Harris' switch goes through, it would leave Keiren Westwood as the only senior player released by Wednesday last summer to have not found a new club.

Says a lot that no Championship clubs wanted him.

Uproar on when he has a few half decent games for Wednesday.

Never been good enough.
