Gareth Ainsworth as Manager?

Mon Sep 27, 2021 2:20 am

Found this on Wikipedia
Management style
Ainsworth is a very attack-minded manager, and likes his teams to play aggressively and with a high pressing style.[98] He has specialised in building teams on a tight budget, recruiting older players overlooked by rival managers who had seen them as "has-beens".

Would he fit City. Done well with Wycombe on limited funding.
All we need is a few old heads to guide the youngsters.

Good shout. Also fits the type of passion city fans like from their managers

Yes, would like him here done really well at Wycombe

Until he lost his first game or conceded a goal; then the usual suspects will give him pelters, just as they have every other manager :(

Not a bad call, though. His style of play would be popular and at some point some other club (not knocking a well run club in Wycombe here) is surely going to give him an opportunity, so why not us? :thumbright:

Could do much worse than Ainsworth.

I'm sure the people who currently run our club will try their best mind.

Not so sure about Ainsworth. He has done well at Wycombe for sure and is a more attacking mined manager than MM but then so is just about every manager in the country. Don't think his teams have a reputation for playing paticularly good football their success has been down to work rate a high press and good organisation, significant that his favourite player a big hard working none to skilful centre forward was sold to Warncocks Middlesborough.

Would he be better than MM probably becaUse MM appears to have lost the plot completely. He did a decent job at the start but are now back to where he started the team is playing as badly as when he took over and he doesn't seem to know what to do about it. Still think with the squad of players he has at his disposal he should be doing much better than he is. For me he is more the problem than the players

Definitely the problem rather than the players his tactics are all wrong for the players we have coming into team with players not in their best positions bacuna an example... take a logical look at Blackburn game and take away pathetic defending and we had more of game ... 3 defenders cannot work as far to slow as it proved... Ainsworth as manager we wouldn't have lost 5 goals that's for sure

He would fantastic in the future but lets support the incumbent as much as possible as we can still turn our season around. Suspect GA might take some persuading

Played for us in 2003 I think - it was the year we went up in the play-offs v QPR

Dont think he played that game though. Or many others come to think of it

9 appearnces and no goals; but he was a decent and very popular player; possibly because of his personality and 'Caveman' look :thumbright:

His style is very much Warnock like I would suggest. Certainly when Wycombe played Oxford league one play off final it was. They were a bullying sort of team.

Akinfenwa being an impact sub they brought said it all.

To be honest, I don't know too much about Wycombe other than we played them and they seemed resolute, so your point is a valid one on the grounds you seem to have watched them more...

In that play off final 23% possession one shot on target with a crazy penalty. Oxford battered them.

But Wycombe it was that went up.

It’s direct football though. Won’t be any ground breaking passing game some of our fans seem to want.
