Fantastic player/striker and prolific for us in getting us promoted
Still lives in the area (Newport) running a successful sports rehab clinic
Happy memories of Jeff's time at Ninian Park
And re the OP, that Chelsea game was mad and (if I recall correctly) that was the game where us City supporters had to run a barrage of ballast (large stones) from the railway line on the bridge at the Canton end of Sloper Road when the sidings were used as an away supporter drop off station

I was in there too.
Clearly saw Chelsea attacking section A and I’m pretty sure the fellas walking behind the goals in front of the Canton were city fans.

Remember standing at the lights on Sloper, with ballast flying about, and a Chelsea fan hanging out of the train window on the bridge catching one straight on the nut, and disappeared out of sight.,
About 20 years later, was working with a Chelsea fan, reckoned that Cardiff was always his favourite away trip..

Agreed. I was in the Canton just to the side of the goal. The ball hit Dave Tong in the chest. His arms were by his side.
My mate left the game at 3-0. Didnt know the final score til later on.

In the enclosure that day . Had to get out and walked out along the touchline. Coined by Chelsea from the Canton. Couldn't see myself in the photo though.
What larks!
