Tom Sang is unavailable owing to aggravating that big toe on which he had surgery during pre-season, however the midfield looks particularly sparse heading into the weekend.

Marlon Pack is suspended for the game following his fifth booking of the season in the Middlesbrough defeat last weekend, while Joe Ralls is still struggling with a collarbone problem he sustained against Swansea City.

STEVE MORISON:

To compound the above, both Leandro Bacuna and Sam Bowen are major doubts for the clash at the bet365 Stadium, with Morison stating: "Leo has been struggling with a hamstring, hopefully will be back at some point next week.

"Sam Bowen has an issue with his plantar fascia, he will be back after the international break."

That means Will Vaulks is the only fully fit central midfielder Morison currently has at his disposal, which is remarkable given there are five natural centre-mids at the club.

"We are low on numbers, but that’s life!" Morison quipped.

It might well be a sliding-doors moment for some players Morison knows well, though. We saw 18-year-old Eli King make his debut for the Bluebirds last weekend and he could now be thrust into contention for the trip to Stoke.

Similarly, Keenan Patten, another player Morison knows well from the under-23s, might get the nod to step up to the senior side.

.

Another injury Morison has to contend with is James Collins, who has suffered a nasty hand injury which leaves him unlikely to feature this weekend.

"James has busted his thumb," Morison said of the Republic of Ireland international. "He had to have a couple of screws inserted [on Tuesday].

"So it shouldn’t be too long, as amazing as that sounds. If he can get a cast on it he should be fine, but maybe not OK for Saturday."

Isaak Davies might well benefit from Collins' misfortune, with the Wales youth international also having made his senior debut against Boro last weekend.

It could also spell positive news for Chanka Zimba, too, after the 19-year-old continued his prolific start to the season with the winning goal in the under-23s' 2-1 triumph over their Ipswich Town counterparts on Tuesday.

Stoke play Brentford at home in the EFL Cup on Wednesday night.

Be interesting to see how Steve Morison sets the team up and who'll be playing where.

I hope it goes well for him.

Good luck Steve.

The ticket office stopped selling on Wednesday, absolutely ridiculous, no option to keep selling but you have to pick up from office just gave excuse of postal difficulties, which probably means we aren't spending the money on post anymore. :banghead:

For Stoke City, Wales international Joe Allen is available for the Bluebirds' visit.

Sam Clucas remains a doubt with a quad injury and will be assessed in the build-up to the match.

Alfie Doughty, Nick Powell and Morgan Fox are all on the injury list and will miss out.

Cardiff are facing a real headache in terms of injuries for the trip to Stoke.

Tom Sang is unavailable owing to aggravating that big toe on which he had surgery during pre-season, however the midfield looks particularly sparse.

Marlon Pack is suspended for the game following his fifth booking of the season in the Middlesbrough defeat last weekend, while Joe Ralls is still struggling with a collarbone problem he sustained against Swansea City.

To compound the above, both Leandro Bacuna and Sam Bowen are major doubts for the clash at the bet365 Stadium.

Stoke City - 19/20

Draw - 12/5

Cardiff City - 3/1

Re: TEAM NEWS: " STOKE CITY v CARDIFF CITY " MATCH THREAD

Match facts:

Stoke have won one of their last six league matches against Cardiff City (D3 L2), winning 2-0 in February 2020.

Cardiff are looking to win consecutive away league games against Stoke City for the first time since a run of three between 2003 and 2005.

Stoke have lost their last three league matches, more than in their other 11 games beforehand this season (2). They last suffered four straight defeats in the league between August and September 2019.

Cardiff, who sacked Mick McCarthy after their loss at home to Middlesbrough last week, are looking to avoid becoming the first Championship side since Rotherham to lose nine straight league matches, who did so between February and April 2017 (10).

Cardiff have failed to score in the league this month (P4 L4). However, only Middlesbrough (76) and Fulham (63) have had more shots than Cardiff’s 61 during that time with Boro scoring six and the Cottagers netting 11 in comparison.
