Max Watters unfazed as he hits six in six in League 1

MK Dons boss Liam Manning hailed Max Watters' resolve as he dusted himself off after a few missed chances to net the winner against Burton Albion.

Watters has scored six goals in six games now, prompting some City fans to want him back at the club in January, and he is leading the Dons' charge up the table.

The 22-year-old had a slow start to the season but is now back to his lethal best and Manning praised the forward for netting the crucial goal in the 1-0 triumph for Dons, despite a mixed first half.

“I think we could have been 3-0 up at half-time," Manning said.

"We created four or five really good chances. Max had a few, which last week he took and this week he didn't. Typical of Max, he didn't let it faze him and he carried on and took one later.”

On the possibility of recalling Watters, Cardiff City boss Steve Morison said last week: "He has had a good little run of games, so let's keep monitoring him to see how he does over the period.

"It's still a jump from being in a top-six League One team in MK Dons to a current bottom-half Championship team in us, who have huge expectations and the pressure goes right through the roof."
