Boro to listen to Ikpeazu offers

Middlesbrough are prepared to listen to offers for former Cardiff City target Uche Ikpeazu in January, according to reports.

The former Wycombe striker was signed by Neil Warnock in the summer after WalesOnline had learned that Cardiff were interested in bringing him to the Welsh capital.

Ikpeazu scored two goals and assisted one in his first three appearances for Boro but has failed to score since.

And, according to Football Insider, Ikpeazu has been told he can leave Middlesbrough, who are now managed by Chris Wilder, in the new year.

His contract runs until 2024.

The forward inflicted a nasty elbow injury on Cardiff captain Sean Morrison at the back end of last season and when Warnock told City's skipper they had signed Ikpeazu, the defender rued that his own club hadn't pounced first.

“He had good offers from elsewhere as well I believe, but he said he’d followed my career at Cardiff and others and he knew Middlesbrough, so he always wanted to come here," Warnock said.

“I talk to a lot of people all over our league - people like Sean Morrison, for example.

“I asked him about strikers when I spoke to him a couple of weeks ago and Uche had put him on the deck and done his knee the first game against him, then he did his shoulder or his elbow second game.

“He didn’t know I was going to sign him, but he was saying ‘flaming heck, I wish we’d got him. He put me on the deck three times’.

“I thought, ‘he’ll do for me’.”
