Their is a hell of a difference and Steve Morison is honest

Wed Nov 24, 2021 7:39 am

Chanka Zimba was scoring goals for fun in the U23’s this season.

A Blackburn Accademy player released a year ago , Cardiff signed Zimba as a free agent and ever since Zimba has been scoring goal after goal for the U23’s :bluebird:

Their is a hell of a difference and Steve Morison is so honest about it:

Steve Morison on Zimba:

‘It’s a big step up and Chanka found that out on Saturday. I think he lost the ball every time he got it, which he wouldn’t have done in the Under-23’s.”

“It was a different level. Being able to give him the opportunity to learn in those 45 minutes is invaluable.’

“Their is so much difference in play, physical side and quality of football in the Championship, compared to the Under-23’s.”

“Some people learn on the grass, some people learn on the computer.”

“I did it with Chanka this morning. He picks the clips out and I talk him through those clips.”

We always knew that not all the U23 stars would make it.

I'm not saying that Zimba won't, because I was one of those saying we should give him a go, but he will have to work on the physical side but with Morison as manager and Moore as the first teamer he's got plenty of experience to draw on.

These youngsters will come in and out of the first team as the season progresses and it's about how they learn from that experience that will decide whether they make it at this level or not.

Seems to me (unless he is an amazing prestigious talent) then he needs to go out on loan and get some game time with a L1 or L2 club and he can make his mistakes and learn from them there. At best he should come on as a late replacement rather than start.

Not all plans and ideas work out - but there is only so many you can make before it starts to hurt. Good luck to him, hope plays again soon and gives Morison a headache in picking him or not for the next game.

Send him on loan to Scotland! After all it didn't do any harm to Ernie didn't it?

Much too early to write him off.We have with us at the moment the ultimate example of a slow burner in Kieffer Moore. How many of us would have given him a second look when he was a raw 20yr old?

If he was already the finished article, let’s be fair,he wouldn’t be at Cardiff city, just a question of what standard he can get to

Yhe finis ht ed article at 19? Not many I can name who were at that young an age.
I said at the time, starting was too much of an ask for his 1st taste of 1st team action!hopefully he will be used more sparingly in future games,as a sub later on in games.
