Steve Morison on Bacuna’s red card:

Fri Dec 31, 2021 8:50 am

Steve Morison on Bacuna’s red card: ‘I haven’t watched it back, but live I thought it was a sending off. You let your team mates down. He knows that and he held his hands up as soon as he went in the dressing room. It was a bad tackle and the game went away from us in that moment.’

The length of his contract on 20k+ a week pretty much sums up our transfer policy in recent years. Paying well over the odds for bang average players. Hopefully that's the last we see of him for a while.

People moan about the youngsters but it's the 'experienced' players who are constantly letting us down this season.

Sadly that's the truth.

When we started playing these youth players, too many at the time, i had a feeling our experienced players would struggle with the responsibility. They have more than struggled but have performed badly as well. We really have timed this badly.

There was so much wrong with the entire passage of play that i really do wonder what our options are.

I only posted about 10 mins before the red that Bacuna chases the ball like an 8 year old. He was given the responsibility of the central midfield whose job is to protect the centre halfs, why he was so high up the pitch is beyond me. He made the ludicrous challenge because he was on the wrong side again.

I believe Pack is too slow for that position especially with Flint or Morrison in a 3. So we are left with Ralls or Vaulks who are better as standard CM's rather than defensive CMs.

I have no idea what Wintle does, lets hope this is his role.

Then we are left with a highly paid player for another 18 months with no position and a fan base who have made their mind up on him.

McCarthy was right about one thing, he is not a defensive player, he is far too undisciplined. I guess the best i can describe him as is a destructive/disruptive "10" but for that you more attacking talent than we have.

he lets his team mates down every time he puts the city shirt on - wouldn't be picked in a non-league side.

complete waste of money, been useless since day 1 - but he's not the only one! :banghead:

Been our policy for over 20 years.

People talk about the transfer committee but us shitting away money isn’t a new thing. In fact after the way Malky and Ole blew a lot of money no wonder a committee was formed. Certainly lately signings have been better than further back albeit less of them and more trust in the youth. As Sven says, an explanation as to why would be nice.

Anyway here are some of the ‘diamonds’ we have signed. There’s actually a gap where we signed some class for cheap. Dave Jones’ era. This was always when we barely had a pot to piss in.

Of course there were good signings made too around the below dross but I’m just showing that no one covers themselves in glory.

20k a week for that !!!!
Fook my old boots we are a complete basket case of a club if we are paying him that much in return for what he gives back.

Makes me feel like not bothering to part with my very had earned money if it is paying his wages - and Vassell for that matter. Thieving a living from the club - something doesnt sit right here - it's like you know when youve just been mugged for paying too much for something.

Sir Neil Warnock, fantastic personality, dodgy in the transfer market. i'll leave it with you how you interpret that

Re: Steve Morison on Bacuna’s red card:

Cardiff City have signed Reading midfielder Leandro Bacuna on a four-and-a-half-year deal.

Manager Neil Warnock has been keen to add a full-back and midfield player before the transfer window closed.

Bacuna, 27, can operate in both areas and joins for a fee understood to be around the £4m mark.

Bacuna, who joined the Royals from Aston Villa, has made 28 appearances for Reading this season, scoring three goals.

"A few weeks ago, I was made aware of some interest and it has all gone from there. I'm very happy and looking forward to getting started," Bacuna said.

"Every game I play I give 100%, and I'll be fighting hard to help our team. I've played against the manager and you can see he always wants to win. He is so passionate. It's going to be great to work underneath him and hopefully he will push me on as a player."

Adam Le Fondre 2.8 million

I have a story there....

After leaving us he joined Wigan on loan. As a photographer I placed myself near the corner flag and had my laptop and camera all set up.

He was warming up in front of goal.

Anyway, whilst warming up (and aiming for the piece of wood in front of him), he managed to slice his shot and hit the back of my laptop near the corner flag.

Not worth £2.8 million in my opinon

I believe it was 2 million down and 4 million if we got promoted which we did.
