‘ Newport and Cardiff fighting yesterday ‘

Sun Apr 10, 2022 5:53 am

Well Newport tried to attack the train with Cardiff on going to Reading

I’ve seen the video it would of gone of nasty if it had not been for OB getting right stuck in

Newport really do hate Cardiff still, but I must say it’s the new younger Newport , I don’t recognise anyone there.

I see the younger Newport hate us as much as the older ones use to in the 80’s . I was hoping it had all finished between us and Newport.

In my experience whenever Cardiff take north of 2k to a game down south ( reading , QPR, Fulham etc ) there are always Cardiff fans ( lads included ) getting on the train at Newport from Newport itself in some instances, Cwmbran and Gwent valleys. Did these fans have any aggro yesterday or did Newport ‘attack a train ‘ when there were actually likely Cardiff on the same platform?

And yet many on here wish them well and hope they do well. Fck em hope they drop out of the league any go back to when no one in Newport was watching football for 30 years

I can’t say I have any affinity with the place , they’re trying to improve the town but you can’t replace the people . I’d like to see Wrexham move up the leagues , far better placed to potentially support a league 1 or championship club than that shit hole .

Always had a good experience with north wales lads when away with wales although recognise there was needle there in the 90s in terms of our club rivalries

I might be wrong but I wouldn't have thought there were many City fans on the train as its so expensive to go to places like Reading these days, I have stopped using the train for games for this reason, whereas Newport to Swindon is less than 50 miles quite a few would travel by train. Probably trying to pick a fight with half a dozen of the senior rail card crew! :old: :laughing6:

About 20 pictures of the same handful of newport fans.Looks like a handful of youngsters and 2 characters from the lord of the rings. The guy with the beard was probably a rough sleeper who had just got kicked off his bench. No point fighting a train, only one winner there-"MOVE ON"

There’s a video on YouTube of the incident. I really don’t understand who decides these fixtures having us play reading away the same day as Newport at Swindon, it’s like asking for trouble. There was a time when I wanted all the Welsh clubs to do well for the sake of the Welsh national team, but the feeling is definitely not mutual from Newport or Swansea. I now hope only Wrexham do well, and our dirty neighbors each side of us fail miserably.

You wouldn’t have said that in 1977 onwards for a few years when Wrexham were our main rivals with Bristol Rovers

Sadly this is nothing new from Radyr's own Peaky Blinder wannabe, HARRYccfc1927 (aged 18 1/4 but with the maturity and understanding of a 12 year old  )

Constantly posting inane, immature bo****ks

After he wrote the original, expletive-laden and personally offensive (to another member) post, I reached to find out what was his actual beef...

I had a bit of an odd reply but it wasn't as rude or expletive-laden as I might have expected. As I said, just odd in its justification; particularly after I asked "Why?" and "Do you think the stations, trains and BTP don't have their own cameras, as well as the usual mobile warriors of which some were Cardiff?"

The response included a section where he moaned that (quote) "because when your in the video at the front and your own cardiff fans sharing it right too police just going to get me n my boys more bans and fines."

'Me n me boys'? 'More bans and fines' (at 18 1/4) for what in reality????

I don't know if he was there, as that comment may or may not suggest and I really don't care; but if you don't want to be caught, don't get involved. It's a basic principle but a pretty sound one

I also mentioned it's all over twitter and Facebook and the images on the Forum appear only to show Newport children and that his whole tone was massively out of order

I had hoped that he might calm down and be more careful how and what he put out yourself in an effort to calm things down but unfortunately, it seems our little wannabe Peaky Blinder had another on Forum meltdown and was removed before anything was resolved

Always a shame but civility is a rudimentary, even when not happy with what one reads

Maybe his fear of getting caught (and possibly being sent to bed early with no supper or Play Station) angered him when he awoke to reality from a lie-in?

I jest with some of that, of course, and ignoring some other stuff that was said; but the fundamental remains that some civility in debate (agree or not) is a basic on this Forum

I’m not sure what time this incident happened but I was going to be on the 8.40 out of port talbot with the port talbot and neath bluebirds I had to pull out of the trip along with another mate has we both got Covid most of us are nearly sixty now.

So the last thing we want is a load of trouble on a train .

As regards Newport to be honest when Cardiff and Newport where rivals to be honest I was back playing football and I have never been to a Cardiff Newport derby I only know one Newport fan and he is nice fellow who I met through my job the only time I had anything to do with Newport was when I was playing for my local club a fan lido and I played against them in the welsh league I remember they beat us six nil Tommy Tyan scored the six .

When I wasn’t playing I used to watch city in midweek games in the last twenty years that I have been a season ticket holder Newport have been struggling for many years so I have never even thought of them as a rival I get that there is a rivalry between Cardiff lads and Newport lads but the to city’s are only ten miles apart there’s always been rivalry between Newport rugby clubs and Cardiff rugby clubs .

Do i like Newport people not really considering some of the ones I have come across through my job why do they hate Cardiff so much if you ask them like Swansea they really dont know but the truth is that over the years we’ve been the better club and more successful swansea and Newport got one thing in cmon they both went burst and as far as I’m concerned they really don’t exist to be fair a lot of city fans have given them a lot of credit on here for the way they have got back into the league I have even applauded there success we are decent football fans but like swanseas they throw it back in our faces so in the future those to Sam all time clubs can do one as far as I’m concerned

I have posted on here before of my dislike for newport. This cones rom working quite near to the town and with a lot of their supporters the actively hate us and revel in any misfortune to us or our club. So my reaction to them is you haven't any money you fans are tramps you can't afford your own ground and while cardiff is a thriving modern city with many good facilities yours is a giant refugee camp. Oh and they are saying cardiff fans started that fight
