Due to be released by Newcastle. Personally I think would be a great option .
Proven at championship level. Wages shouldn’t be a problem due to his age . Get your money out Tan

Certainly has the ability and still looks pretty sharp when he does get minutes. No question that when fit he wold be a brilliant signing.

However, he's also got a pretty poor record injury wise. Do we want to take a risk on that ?

Personally I would take a risk offer 12k a week even if he plays 20-30 games he would get us 10-15 goals at our level and better than what we have got at present

If he has kept himself fit then could prove to be a shrewd signing.

A signing like this would show us intent to move forward. Have a feeling he will be asking to much in wages tho. Good boy at this level

Yea please.

Can see one of the relegated teams offering him a bit more money than we can but if we sign Gayle then I’d be very, very optimistic.

Haven't we learnt tge lesson of taking players looking for a last pay day. No thanks. Give me a young hungry league one player any day, or better still a youngster looking to impress a parent premier club. Don't want another vassell do we?

Totally agree, reputations and football prowess count for nothing if the player is spending most of his time in the physio department. I'm not saying Gayle would be there all the time, but I have noticed, from personal experience, the older you get the more you creak. :bluebird:

32 and supposed to be a disruption in the dressing room, and past his best!

This is not the direction I see us going...ageing injury prone players on high wages....won't happen and I am pleased....

Out more than he's played could think of nothing worse and his wages I doubt we could afford tbh. We have had enough players on big money sitting in the stands injured but that won't stop the club no doubt signing them.

33 in October, relies on pace and movement, often injured but knows where the net is, especially ours, he also had diving to an Olympic standard

Hope the only 33 year old we get is currently residing in Madrid ;)

Ah the annual - let’s sign Dwight Gayle post.
Seems to have been going on for about 10 years

Not for me.

Sadly, you're not wrong on all counts, Jim...

Not for me.

Not for me either, Paul; he has been linked many times before and has turned us down even when we were on the up

I know it's only on the pitch but he doesn't come across as a 'team player' and I think Steve Morison is looking at a different type of player to integrate within his 'new' squad

One of the big reasons I think Sean Morrison should stay, when/if his fitness returns
