You say that but is this sort of scenario common amongst other teams?

For players still with the ability to play top flight to give up the reward to help out a home town team seems rare. So for it to possibly happen twice to us is amazing.

Are there any other examples of this?

I don't think he's doing it to help us out haha

Yeah I agree.

Bale is his own man and does what he wants to do. He’s proven this by preferring to sit on the bench for Madrid rather than take a pay cut and move elsewhere and play football during the last few years.

In my opinion he probably isn’t driven to play club football anymore and is virtually only motivated for Wales and the World Cup. I don’t think there would be a surprise if he retired if Wales don’t qualify.

According to his agent he definitely will be coming to uk to play whats not sure is where? it says depends on wales qualifying if that's case only city can offer terms he wants in regards to playing time...if fail no mention of retirement but ncastle possibility alongside city. Just depends what GB wants .

i assume being able to pick the games he plays in, for the first half of the season would be a big thing going into the WC.

the poster above mentions Spurs in the champions league, that could actually work to our benefit as they look towards more reliable players and probably have a bigger pool to choose from now.

Does he want to sit on bench game after game and be away from home most of week? Or does he choose to be able to have choice of playing time at city and go home every day? Putting all the different scenarios together city comes out as most suitable for him especially if Wales qualify..even if dont qualify would he want to be away from home 4 /5 days a week and not play? Nothi g other than city makes logical sense apart from retirement.

Yeah that's probably more directed to the Bellamy signing.

My point on the post was more about whether other clubs have benefitted from a hometown player signing for them while still able to get high paying contracts elsewhere.

It's funny that spurs fans & news outlets are saying the same thing we are, "he's 100% coming if Wales qualify" etc.

Both options could happen in my opinion. It honestly depends on his ambitions. He'll have a more significant say in what role he has here and be at home but at spurs, he has champions league football. I'm not sure club football or champions league motivates him at the moment so that could favour us, just a guess though.

This thread's foundation is that he will join for 3 months on his terms. With that said, there must have been talks? Otherwise, this thread is also 100% total crap, no?

This topic was due to Bales Father telling one of my best mates on the golf course all this and quite adamant it will all happen.

I have to say, that makes me even more optimistic that this is going to happen. As I mentioned to you a few weeks ago, I heard this from a completely separate source

Definitely can't think of one as high profile as Bale, considering the club and contract he's just come off aswell. Things like this definitely do not happen too often in football.
