Three clubs hold talks with Pack

Bristol City, Portsmouth and Shrewsbury Town have all held talks with Marlon Pack, however no decision has yet been made over his next destination, WalesOnline has learned.

Despite the Bluebirds' retained list still not having been released, Pack himself announced his departure on social media and will this summer be a free agent. And it seems the 31-year-old has a few admirers.

His former club Bristol City are understood to be keen on brining the player back to Ashton Gate, while his former Robins manager Steve Cotterill, now at League One Shrewsbury, has expressed an interest in taking him up to Shropshire.

The Shrews' divisional rivals, Portsmouth, are also understood to be keen. Pack started his career at Pompey, but made just two appearances for them before joining Cheltenham Town in 2011. Other clubs are understood to be keen on the midfielder, too, however Cheltenham are not believed to be one of them.

Meanwhile, it is also understood that Will Vaulks, another player who is out of contract at Cardiff this summer, will not be joining Rotherham United. Paul Warne said he would love to have Vaulks back with the Millers, however, financially, a deal doesn't look like it can be done.

Other Championship clubs have registered an interest in signing the Wales international, 28, this summer.
