“ Cardiff not able to have the finances to buy “

Mon Jun 13, 2022 5:53 pm

Former Cardiff City target Ronan Curtis is reportedly set to leave Portsmouth this summer.

The winger was believed to be a target for the Bluebirds during the Mick McCarthy era, but the finances needed to get a deal over the line proved too prohibitive for Cardiff.

Now, The News claims it's "increasingly likely" the Irishman will depart this summer, with Pompey reportedly willing to accept an offer of around £500,000 for the 26-year-old, still way to high for the Bluebirds.

The same report claims that there is interest from the Championship, with Cardiff, Blackburn, Preston and Derby believed to be among his admirers in the past. However, there's currently no indication that it's an option Cardiff will look to consider again as Cardiff do not have these kind of finances.

Steve Morison has stated he will continue looking for free agents and loan deals where the other clubs pay the majority of the wages.
