Welsh Football Fans Group: ‘ Gareth Bale’

Welsh Football Fans Group:

There seems to have been a lot of disappointing comments about Gareth Bale choosing Los Angeles Football Club over Cardiff City Football Club. Stating it’s only for money etc.

Let’s get this clear, it would have been great to see him playing for Cardiff but him playing in the Major League Soccer (MLS) will be far better for FA Wales

- The league is less robust, so he has a lower chance of getting injured.
- Their season finishes in October, so will be fresh leading into the World Cup. This will also mean he gets a good run of games whilst we are still on a end of season break here as they are mid season at present.
- The climate will be better and being in the US will give him access to some of the best fitness and injury specialists in the world.

On reflection, I think this is the best move he could have made for us as a national team. It should help prolong his career and be there to help guide some of the fantastic young prospects that we have.

I can’t agree that the MLS is the best thing for Wales. Not sure how the season finishing 6 weeks before the World Cup means he’s fresh, nor spending half a day travelling to away games. Add in being 5000 miles and an 11 hour flight from all the FAW staff and facilities.

I don’t begrudge him for choosing LA, Cardiff was always a long shot but this seems like clutching at straws.

Think if he possible gets injured during the season it leaves him with at least 6 weeks to recover and gives him best chance to recover for the world cup However what will the 6 weeks do for his football fitness is another thing
I would expect he would have some of the best advise in the world for that period

I don't believe in ay of that.

The only benefit here is to Adidas. They will get their exposure to justify their Sponsorship. Perhaps they have got a large portion of that now by manipulating this move.

As for saying Bale will be safe out their from injury then that will be at the expense of him being fit for the World Cup. Signing for us he would have reached that fitness level if he avoided injury. It would have been a risk on that score but what's the point of having him half fit at Qatar as he will be taken out of any game against such players playing out there.

watch some of that crappy league on tv, horrendous late tackles, poor refereeing, I'll have money on him being singled out and not making the world cup - USA will be cheering themselves silly they can help their cause!

With Tan holding a stake in LAFC, wouldn't be surprised if he arrives at Cardiff on Loan during October in lead up to World Cup.
