Charlie Crew

Seems that Charlie has joined Leeds Utd. According to drangonsoccer twitter feed he played for thier u18s today and also played for them against Chelsea the other day.

Not sure of the details of his move. Was he in a professional contract? Or has he moved because they have a category 1 academy and therefore we only get a small training fee?

Surely this is the sort of information the Club should be telling us about. Also, what happened to the other 15 year old Biancheri, a promising forward who looked certain to join Chelsea recently? Possibly millions of pounds lost to our Club on top of the Matondo affair. Very disheartening.

The cost of a Cat1 Academy averages £5m per year - of which the FA provide £1m assistance

The cost of a Cat2 Academy averages £3m per year - of which the FA provide £1m assistance

Basically an extra £2m per year or £38k per week.

Cat1 academies, insofar as I am aware, can poach players from Cat2,3,4 clubs - (They are not allowed to poach from Cat1)

If we were Cat1 not only could we avoid clubs poaching our promising youngster but we could also do some of the poaching ourselves

When you think of the weekly investment that went in Tomlin, Bacuna and Vassell - surely it would be better to have put that into an academy??

Maybe £2m of the Sala money, if case is awarded in our favour, could go towards the Academy - Maybe even name our Academy after Emiliano ("The Emiliano Sala Football Academy")

If we are spending £3m already surely it makes sense to go the full distance with a Cat1

If we win the Sala case to not pay a transfer fee for him, I don’t think naming the academy after him would be the best thing to do… we are basically trying to prove he wasn’t technically our player

I know a player who left the City for Chelsea, didn't make it.His old man rang Frankie Burrows and asked him to take his son back.He was politely told to f**k off.

Wales u17 (and also u16) squad for a training camp has been announced today and Gabriele Biancheri has been listed as a Cardiff City player but Crew is listed as a Leeds player.
