Is it time to go Continental?

Sun Oct 16, 2022 11:03 am

In the last maybe 20 years or more we’ve had British managers, with the exception of Solskjaer but he played most of his career in the UK.

Steve Morison had laid the foundations and changed the mentality of the way the club wants to move forward and Hudson has kept that philosophy going. But is now the time to keep Hudson on in the setup but look to bring in someone from Spain or Portugal, maybe France or italy, who’s going to coach our team and manage us in a style they use in Europe. Someone who’s going to get us playing on the deck like we are trying to do, but get us playing with a purpose and a structure rather than just tippy tappying it around and playing nice football for the sake of it. I haven’t got anyone in mind but surely the club could scout the foreign leagues and find someone within our budget.

Said this earlier. Not only that can pick up cheaper players from abroad look at what clubs like Brentford, Leeds and Huddersfield have done in the last 5-7 years

Yes.

I can never understand if the club decided we are changing they never got any versed in the style we want to play.

Morison was a target man, Harris before him was a 442 striker, Mick and Hudson were no-nonsense centre halves at what point were they coached and drilled to boredom on the gegenpress or other "progressive" systems or variations on those?

Hudson learned a bit under Wagner who learned under Klopp who learned under Rangnick and so on.

I'd get Wagner and hope him and Hudson are still besties.

I’d be happy with a foreign manager, it’s worked for most other clubs so why not. I’d keep Hudson on though in some capacity.
