Millwall Lads view on Saturday

Tue Sep 28, 2010 8:00 am

Not sure if this has been posted but one of Millwall's lads posted this on their 'lovely lovely geezer' site. Pretty good analysis of the day and the reasons that it passed off without major incident.

I talk up Cardiff a lot on here, in my opinion I rated them as in the Top 3 in F/V easy. This is without ever going to them or having it with them, just on what I've heard and seen. To me they were the Welsh version of us, I have so much respect for them; don't give a ####, mad and always want it. The thing is they probably are but that fixture now is the biggest Non event in Football. They are too good a firm to land in Cars or Minibuses (cause they will have atleast 400 waiting for you without a doubt. Nobody can organise that with the amount of people you would need for a turnout down there. The only way to get into Cardiff is over the bridge on Coach where you get Wrapped up as soon as you're over or by the OB at the station who want to put you straight in the Ground.

We got Escorted on a Coach into that massive Away pen which is caged off with about 50-60 OB foating about and Cameras everywhere. The bods on the Train fairplay to them declined the buses and Marched to the ground and again got nothing. They were expecting Cardiff to pour into them at the turn of one road as it was near one of their pubs apparently but the OB must of had them under Wraps. Got to the ground and couldn't buy a row for love nor money and that's not a dig at Cardiff cause I know they would have been into us without hesitation if they could have been.

As for the ground, gutted I missed Ninian Park. The new ground is a typical Souless New Build, no character at all. I was suprised they allowed us to be so close to the Cardiff and thought that no doubt it would go in the ground. Was then I realised that we was next to the Family Stand full of kids and on the other side instead a load of lads it was Barmies in official tops, not what I expected at all. I suppose it is 2010 I should start realising that the game is up, especially fighting inside of the ground. I said to my mate they would never get away with sticking us in the same stand as you at the Den, maybe I'm wrong.

The one thing that pissed me off in the ground was the numerous Germany flags, I'd of ironed out anyone at Millwall who was waving one of them. We fought 2 World Wars against that Scum nation right and every person who was waving one probably had Great Grandad's who either died or fought in the World Wars. I suppose it's the age old thing of singing and doing things to get a rise out of the oppostion and they definately got that off me.

RIP NINIAN PARK - Older lads told me that was the Cardiff I expected.

Most intimidating ground I've been to so far is Goodison Park on the Tuesday night, being escorted by Stanley Park. I was young at the time so not involved in any of the F/V but for me that was an old school ground and atmosphere. That was what I was expecting a bit from Cardiff but any chance of that has been sucked out of them through no fault of their own.

Cardiff will go up I reckon, if they get rid of their Left Back who is the worse Professional Footballer I've ever seen, no doubt I've got him in my Dream Team. Good result but they had the Referee yesterday, some ropey decisions no doubt.

I don't understand the German flags bit, unless they were in the family stand.
