" Bluebirds and Millers remain in limbo "

Cardiff City and Rotherham United are still awaiting a decision from the EFL regarding their recently abandoned Championship clash at the New York Stadium.

The Bluebirds were winning 1-0 before last week's game was called off due to a freak downpour that rendered the pitch unplayable.

Cardiff were understood to be unhappy at the way Rotherham handled the episode, and compiled what they believe to be a dossier of evidence to put to EFL bosses.

It's understood that evidence has been received by the EFL, while Rotherham too have been afforded the opportunity to have their say on the matter.

A review is subsequently already under way, but there appears to be little sign of an imminent breakthrough.

It means both clubs remain in limbo over what happens next, with a decision unlikely to arrive in the next 24 hours, although an exact timeframe admittedly remains unclear.

Sources had previously suggested that the most likely outcome would be that the match would be rearranged and replayed in its entirety. While all possibilities remain on the table, that stance doesn't appear to have changed, although Cardiff are believed to have made the case for the contest to resume at 1-0.

A replayed game would clearly have a potentially big knock-on effect for the Bluebirds, who are facing up to a busy April schedule as it is.

The month is set to kick off with the small matter of the South Wales derby on Saturday. They follow that with Easter games against Blackpool (April 7) and Sunderland (April 10), followed by a trip to Sheffield United.

Then there's a midweek game away to Watford and then a home clash with Stoke on April 22.

The most likely window for a rearrangement therefore seems to be within the four days before Cardiff's penultimate home clash with Huddersfield.

Really can’t see why it’s taking so long,on the plus side they must be considering something more than just replaying it at 9-0.

Yeah. Knowing how much the EFL love us they will give that score line to Rotherham.

Deduct them 3 points for not providing a championship level drainage facility then replay the game from scratch would be a fair outcome

I’d be happy with that.

Andrew there is so much evidence to sift through, the EFL are overwhelmed :laughing5:
After it all I would not be surprised to see a full replay.
The EFL have no balls whatsover and they will take the easy descision, but I can see that the thing that is delaying the verdict is VT has probably threatened to sue them and they are working out what they can get away with, and If it is within the rules for a club to sue

I agree Rog.
I’m positive it’ll be a full replay. Anything else would be a bonus. :bluescarf:
