Sabri Lamouchi: “We paid the price”

Sat Apr 01, 2023 9:50 pm

Sabri Lamouchi:

Played 10 games: Won 3 Drawn 1 Lost 6

SABRI LAMOUCHI:

“When you start and finish the game in this way, you’re sad and disappointed. We paid the price.”

"When you start the game this way and when you finish the game this way, you can be upset, disappointed, complain, maybe, because maybe we paid the price for some mistakes in the beginning, one or two goals, easy.“

"We can't concede this foul. We can't concede this goal in the last minute. So no complaints. Just a cruel scenario.

"Five goals in a derby is a lot of goals. Unfortunately it was not in our favour. We came back into the game with a fantastic goal from Jaden before the break. It was a chance to come back into the game with a different mentality and a different quality. We pressed them a little bit better. With no mistake at the beginning in the second.

"Kaba scored another goal and I was thinking it was an important goal, but we finished as you know. Over 95 minutes, we need to keep the ball, put the ball away, the small details. I said to the players before the game and at the end.

"I can't complain about the desire to come back into the game, but we need to play with the same mentality and desire to keep the result. Because one point is one point."

"It was the best atmosphere since my beginning," the Bluebirds boss added. "Unfortunately, a lot came and they are probably, like all of us, very disappointed, upset by the result and the scenario.”

"But they supported the players until the third goal. It was unbelievable from them."

"The atmosphere in the locker room is absolutely different than the opponent's locker room."

Getting fed up of hearing all this.

Cruel scenario he says. No, its ill discipline, its immature and its schoolboy errors. Unfortunately we are stuck with this squad and we require a miracle.

Problem is how are we going to solve this because whatever league we are in next season I can only see it gettintg worse unless something changes at the top.

Not impressed by his tactics at all yesterday.

Let Swansea have as much of the ball as they wanted and put them under no pressure whatsoever letting them pass through us at will.

The general thought seems to be that the best way to play Swansea is to put their back four under pressure and it was clear that their keeper was piss poor and they were definitely a lot less comfortable when eventually we did start to press them.

Unfortunately we were 2-0 down by then.

The game lasts for 90 minutes and unfortunately for the first 20 minutes and for the entire period after we equalized we were not even competing.

Lamouchi got his tactics wrong yesterday, he must shoulder some of the blame.

We all knew the Swansea players would be up for it and the whole world and his dog know how they play. The big questions were whether the Cardiff players would be up for it and if we pressed them from the very start. Unfortunately the answer to both questions was a massive but not surprising NO!

We have to be the most naive team in the entire league. Despite the closeness of the result, the sad truth is that Swansea was by far the better footballing team, and seemed to be more up for it throughout.

Only thing I think he got wrong was having Philogene stuck out wide. Would’ve started Romeo and maybe not Ralls/Rinomhota.

Can’t really blame him for anything aside from that, I’d personally have had Harris in the squad over Davies who was absolutely useless against Norwich, but then again if Harris is going to be leaving in the summer we might as well blood Davies in and see if he stands a chance to make it.

He’s inherited a shit squad and the only experienced forward with legs is injured so what else is he meant to do

We can't press with our current squad !!

Kaba, slow (knows where the net is though)
Ojo, average pace but reactions like the captain of the Titanic
Philogene, not quick but is the most gifted individual I have seen in a city shirt for a years
O'Dowda - can press but we lost all control when Ralls went to wingback
Rinohota can press
Wintle - can press, but really is a sitter (6)
Ralls - Can crunch you, use his body to roll you, but more than bursts then he can not press any more
Sawyers - nicks a few but never going to press

If we had Robinson, Etete then it may have been on the cards, but to press you need to commit to it and we couldn't
