Former Crystal Palace and Birmingham City striker Clinton Morrison has hailed Connor Wickham for his performance against Blackpool on Saturday. The City striker scored the first and assisted the second and third in the 3-1 win over the Seasiders and Morrison believes he was the difference between the two sides.
"This was about Connor Wickham for me. He was outstanding. He was a handful. He scored the first, made the second and the third. A big result for Cardiff," Morrison said on ITV's EFL Highlights show.
Wickham a journey man who was released by Forest Green in January had a lot to prove after the fiasco with the gas bottle and has never managed more than 20 appearances in a season for a club due to persistent injuries.
Wickham who is now aged 30 has played for more than 13 clubs in his career.
Wickham has played 6 times for the Welsh club, scoring 1 goal since he signed in January.
"I thought Mick McCarthy could turn it around at Blackpool. But you have to beat the teams around you otherwise, inevitably, you'll get relegated. It's an uphill task for Blackpool to stay in the division.

Well I was surprised Wickham got picked but was delighted he did after that performance.
He made a mistake, angered quite a few and was very apologetic. That can not be enough sometimes, specially with a regime like ours. He can count himself lucky we are in dire straights and I believe all morals from above was put to the side. He replied in full with interest.
Well done Wickham and now thank the fans who sang your song before KO and all the way through to you being replaced.

Some good points very well made, Ian...
Can never condone (so-called) '
role models' effectively promoting stupidity or practices that endager health but his performance Saturday went some way to reparation...
