Ralls or O'Dowda at LWB?

For me Ralls gives us better defensive balance.

If we changed shape and played O'Dowda further forward then he's one of our best players. For me his defending has cost us a few goals in recent games.

Just highlights our questionable approach to squad planning in tbr summer.

Can’t help the injury to jc. But to have zero back up (bagan was NOT the first reserve) so we rush to sign a player that can’t actually defend (Neils) that we end up sending back.

Same as how we didn’t sign any strikers/forwards that were actually capable of playing a necessary role in tbr league we are in. I’d have preferred they kept Collins because for all his
Shortcomings- he was at least an experienced championship player who was strong enough to hold the ball up.

All that meant was that we lost our best left sided attacker and had no focus up front. Robbo is a brilliant forward. He isn’t a wickham or a Kaba.

Wickham would have been available then too!

If “we” hadn’t been so focussed on tapping it abouy woth zero end point and signed an effective left back and effective target man I dare say we woikd have been safe months ago.

A 24-year-old Ralls played a few times at left back but as a wing back then its O'Dowda every time.

Sunderland are young, quick but lightweight we need to go as direct as can be and O'Dowda's crosses are those of someone whose primary job is to get crosses into the box. If we try to outplay them they will batter us.

Ralls is way too slow to play full back.

If he has a nippy winger up against him he would be murdered !! Surely people can see that !!??

Sorry, O’Dowda every time for me, in fact, almost anyone before Ralls in that position. He was excellent on Friday, no doubt about that, but hardly tested out wide.

Having watched Sunderland this week, they are very quick to break forward so COd for me. Ps. Sunderland are very poor in defence.

Why not play Ralls as LB and O’Dowda in front of him? If he’s fit.

Unfortunately doesn't matter if your quicker than someone if you keep switching off and getting the wrong side of players.

I really like Odowda when he's attacking and also brings an aerial threat.

I think he will go with Odowda if fit just my preference would be Ralls in a 3-5-2

He CAN’T defend !!!! There is zero chance of Lamouchi picking him and quite right too in my opinion.

He had a weakness defending and instead of improving it he’s actually got worse defensively if you look at his positioning for U23s. He gets away with it there, most of the time !!, but that doesn’t happen in the Championship against better players.

And we can defend at the moment ? Having bloody laugh. Worse defence we have in years and years.

Players need to be selected for their own positions and not try to make things fit.
Youngsters give you legs energy and passion in the badge something badly missing monday. They do make mistakes but can we really make anymore than we are already making and dont forget they got us out of sXxT last year.

In the summer we changed our players and they are worse than what we had and then all the kids not getting games time.

Some may not deserve a place others have been injured but we need to dip them in and out of the team to build their confidence. We really need to look at how we handle all of our players.

Thats why we're were we are and i cant see any change for the rest of the season.
