UK & Ireland - UEFA Euro 2028 bid

Thought they may have gone with Principality and CCS so as to have a whole group of games in one country. But seems it is pretty England Centric.

To be expected but Scotland must be pretty peeved.

Grounds with their capacities or expected capacity if not built yet.

1. Wembley Stadium (London) (capacity 90,652)

2. Principality Stadium (Cardiff) (73,952)

3. Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (London) (62,322)

4. Etihad Stadium (Manchester) (61,000)

5. Everton Stadium (Liverpool) (52,679)

6. St James' Park (Newcastle) (52,305)

7. Villa Park (Birmingham) (52,190)

8. Hampden Park (Glasgow) (52,032)

9. Aviva Stadium (Dublin) (51,711)

10. Casement Park (Belfast) (34,500)

Not sure why anyone would expect anything more than that for the countries other than England when they have the majority of the stadiums able to accomodate the numbers needed & the CCS would be way down any list of possible grounds.

I understand most of the stadia would be in England but Hampden could have been paired with either Celtic Park or Ibrox.

Still leaves England with half the stadia.

Seems they had a rule of one stadia per city except London.

No way they could pick Celtic Park over Ibrox or vice versa. Would be mayhem.

Realistically the only non English option not included would of been Murryfield (Edinburgh) I think they've held Uefa games in the past.

England will be the host nation as the tournament only has 24 teams in the finals. Not a hope in hell they are going to have 5 hosts and only 19 qualifying teams.

Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic will have to qualify.

Hearts played Rangers there when Tynecastle was being altered, would be a good venue. Hampden is a shite tip, an old terraced stadium that’s been seated.

Does feel a bit odd having the only Welsh venue NOT being the hone of Welsh football.

Not surprised that CCS isn't on there or the other ones in Scotland. As others have said, they'd have to choose between Ibrox and Celtic Park so in that case, it's better to select neither.

CCS is also smaller in capacity than all the others on the list and, again pointed out by the others, there isn't two stadiums in one city (apart from London obviously).

But I'm a little surprised Old Trafford isn't there instead of the Etihad (as they're both in Manchester), Villa Park or St James' Park. Old Trafford has a bigger capacity than all the others on the list except Wembley.

But I think most people expected the list to be England dominated.

Hope the bid wins and think it probably will.

Biggest laugh about it...

Semi finals and final held in Wembley. Come on. Ffs. They've tried that before. Still f**k it up.

I think Old Trafford is being refurbished during the period of the tournament or so I seen it said.

I can see that CCS is too small for the tournament (Although it is the same size as Northern Irelands effort). Its just that IF Wales qualify we will obviously have our group hosted in Cardiff and it will be in a rugby stadium that we do not call home.

Would Wlelsh fans rather the Principality?

If they/we win this deal ....5 Nations do not have to go through the group stages to be there :?:
