BREAKING SABRI LAMOUCHI: ‘ THURSDAY 13TH APRIL 2023 ‘

Thu Apr 13, 2023 4:51 am

:bluebird: :bluebird: “ SABRI LAMOUCHI WILL UPDATE CARDIFF CITY FANS “ :bluebird: :bluebird:

Thursday 13th April 2023

“We’re not happy with the situation, we are in," Sabri began. "In our meeting my message to the players is absolutely simple; from day one I always said it would be tough, but we must stay focussed and absolutely determined until the end with only one goal, which is to have three teams behind us.

“We have been lucky and unlucky at times, but for that reason we have to stay determined for ourselves, our fans and for the Club. We have missed out on points both at home and away from small details. We need to take care of the small details, because they can make a huge difference at the end.

SABRI LAMOUCHI:

“I said months ago the club should of offered Joel Bagan a new two or three year contract.”

"This is not part of my job, to discuss it with the player or his agent. The club know what I'm thinking," he added.

"I asked them not about only him, even for one or two other young guys. The club, even if the present is not so positive, we are where we are, we have to think about the future and the younger talent from the academy."

“I and the players are waiting on the club to get back to them and me.”

Sabri Lamouchi:

"We have to take care of all of the details; on and off the pitch. We have to concentrate game by game."

Lamouchi after 12 games in charge sees his team still at 21st in the League ( due to Reading minus 6pts) and yet to beat a 10 ten Championship side.

City play away to 2nd in the League Sheffield United, probably their toughest test yet, but City seem to be more comfortable away from home, so you never know?

Recent results have seen Cardiff squander a previous six-point buffer between themselves and the drop.

Sabri Lamouchi: Played 12 games / Won 4 / Drawn 1 / Lost 7

Joel Bagan nearly 22 years old and is out of contract this coming June.

Bagan has made 34 appearances for the Bluebirds in the last 3 years, but has been unable to to get in to the match day team this season under Lamouchi and the previous 2 City managers.

SABRI LAMOUCHI:

Sabri Lamouchi believes Joel Bagan is not ready to impact Cardiff City's first team just yet but urged the club to sign him up to a multi-year deal.

Bagan who will be 22 years soon, is one of a number of players to have broken through from the academy into the first team in recent years, but his game time has been massively reduced this season. He has not featured in a single match-day squad under Lamouchi.

Left-back has been a problem position for Cardiff all season, too, with Jamilu Collins' injury, Niels Nkounkou's defensive frailties and Callum O'Dowda suffering his own injury issues, too.

But Bagan has scarcely been called upon. Indeed, he has played just eight minutes of Championship football, with three other outings coming in the two cup competitions.

Last season was thought to be his breakthrough year. The defender scored three goals in as many games as Steve Morison led City to safety at the back end of the 2021/22 campaign.

It just hasn't been the case this season, though, and, given his contract is up in June, many Bluebirds supporters wondered if they would see him again. Well, if Lamouchi has his way, then he will be a first-team regular at some point in the near future.

"Joel is a good player, he is young," said Lamouchi. "But I've never used him. He trains with us and he adds some quality. But it's so early for him. I like him.

"That's why we asked months ago, weeks ago, to sign a contract with him. Because we think it's early for him to play with the first team, but soon he will be part of the first XI.

"That's why the club should offer him a contract for two or three years."

“I and the players are waiting on the club to get back to them and me.”

The Bluebirds manager said after the international break that he had tried to use the fortnight to secure some of the younger players' futures.

However, while he could only offer his opinion on how to proceed, Lamouchi said it's now in the club's hands.

"This is not part of my job, to discuss it with the player or his agent. The club know what I'm thinking," he added.

"I asked them not about only him, even for one or two other young guys. The club, even if the present is not so positive, we are where we are, we have to think about the future and the younger talent from the academy."

So, as things stand, it is unlikely that Bagan will be starting at left-back any time soon. But, on a more positive note, it does look as though Callum O'Dowda and Joe Ralls, both of whom have played there in recent weeks, have more positive prognoses on their injuries.

SABRI LAMOUCHI:

“I said to my players, I came here for two reasons, for the club and the quality in the squad as the quality is enough to stay in the Championship. But I said as well, probably we will need to fight until the last game so we must be ready for that. In one moment I was thinking we were doing well, but we miss consistency.”

“If you aren’t consistent in the Championship, you deserve to be where you are and you will be there for a lot of reasons. It is not time to discuss this, it is time to be positive, honest and try to give your best. We didn’t give our best in the first half today.”

“It is a difficult time for everyone in different ways, but everything is in our hands," said Sabri. "It depends on us, so we must not forget. For the moment, we’ll focus and play whilst thinking about that.

“The players know that it will be tough on Saturday. Sheffield United have big expectations and big players, they’re looking for direct promotion and are doing well in the FA Cup. We have to adapt and play with what we’re up against, and to give our all.

“As it is for everyone around us, it’s the same for us. I feel this pressure, I hope the players feel this pressure as well, because it’s exactly the same for the other teams.

“I know that in this case of pressure, we just need to think of our way to play, with our determination. Just do what you know to do, in the most simple way you can, and don’t give anything to the opponent; play simple. We will try to play in this way, with big determination.”

“Before the Sunderland game we spoke about mentality, because in April we have a lot of games to play. We have to take care of all of the details; on and off the pitch. We have to concentrate game by game. We have played one game fewer than the teams around us, but we have to think just about Sheffield United now.

“There is pressure for the teams around us as well as ourselves, and we need to approach this pressure and play through it; we need to do what we know we can do, but to do it very well, and not to give anything to our opponent.”

Adams back in training

Cardiff City may have been handed a huge boost as summer signing Ebou Adams has been pictured training during the Bluebirds’ open training session at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Adams joined the Bluebirds from League 2 Forest Green Rovers on a three-year deal in May last year when Steve Morison was in charge, however he’s yet to play a competitive game for the club due to injury.

The Gambian international suffered a freak injury in a pre-season clash with Cambridge United, which saw him rip his pectoral muscle off the bone. This led to a lengthy lay-off which saw him miss the start of the Championship campaign.

Just as Adams was nearing his return to first-team action he suffered another setback with a knee injury before Christmas. In March, Sabri Lamouchi said he expected Adams to miss the rest of the season but seeing Adams back in training is a positive for Cardiff fans as they look ahead to next season.

Cardiff City (21st - 42 pts)

Sheffield United (a)

Watford (a)

Stoke (h)

Rotherham United (a)

Huddersfield (h)

Burnley (a)

Recent results have seen Cardiff squander a previous six-point buffer between themselves and the drop.

It's difficult to see Cardiff claiming anything from Sheffield United this weekend, with the Blades keen on cementing automatic promotion behind leaders Burnley. A trip to Watford could also prove tricky.

Stoke at home looks a winnable game, while the rearranged trip to Rotherham and the visit of Warnock's Huddersfield will both be potentially significant.

Should they win a couple of those, they might well be more or less over the line by the time travel to Burnley on the final day.

Colwill absence explained

Rubin Colwill missed the defeat by Sunderland due to a hip injury after his brief cameo against Blackpool.

It's been a torrid season for injuries for the young Wales international and just when he appeared to be building up some momentum, with decent outings against Swansea City and Blackpool, he appears to have suffered another setback.

SABRI LAMOUCHI:

Lamouchi said of Colwill: “After 20 minutes in Blackpool he felt some pain in the left hip and he didn’t train. He told me he wasn’t ready for the game."

Asked if it was serious, replied: “Not sure, he was not with us today."

It's been a hugely frustrating season for Colwill, who was earmarked as an important part of this squad at the beginning of the campaign. He has started only three league matches, surprisingly, the same number as Gavin Whyte.

if we stay up Annis, would you give him a longer contract ?, me personally i would give him a 12 month contract, but with the ability to activate another year by the club. it protects us if he does good, but also means we're not paying off a 3 year contract if (and most likely) will when he gets sacked by the club for some unknown reason

Rhys,

Bagan will be 22 years old when we start next season, if we are relegated I would def give a 2 yr (max) contract , if we stay up I would give max a 12 month contract as for me he should of made it by now.

Hi Rhys,

That’s why I would be very sceptical on Bagan, should of made it by now.

As to Sabri, Going by his first 12 games NO, we had a 6pt cushion he has let it slip and has not beaten any Top 10 team, but he has 6 more games left, if we stay up , then Max 12 month contract, but I have doubts about him.

So our manager does not know if Colwill’s injury is serious because ‘he’s not with us today’. Why the hell not? Does Colwill turn up when he feels like it? Disrespectful. No wonder we are in a mess. Colwill is your proverbial sick note. There ALWAYS something wrong with him.

So Colwill is the new 'target' for the boo-boys, is he? :?

Looking at your post, you clearly know the player/situation (now and before) better than the club... ;) :laughing6:

Have never ever booed a City player in my 56 years supporting the Bluebirds. And never will. Indeed I have high hopes for Colwill who I believe has plenty of talent and I look forward to seeing him play for the City again. He has the potential to be a very very good player. However, I cannot understand why the manager doesn’t know where he is. You are right I certainly don’t, but the point is the manager should, particularly with an important game coming up in 2 days time. And the fact is he has played so little for us this year is a huge disappointment to all our fans. Finally, Sven, I’m unsure if you are a Moderator. If you are I suggest you refrain from your opinions more as this is a forum for all fans to contribute. Perhaps you should just ‘moderate’ more. Whether you are, or not, perhaps a little less sarcasm would help towards anyone who has a different opinion to you. You do tend to believe your opinion is always right and have on countless occasions to others belittled their opinion. After all - we are all City fans. No doubt you will make some comment to this. I will certainly not be replying.

The Bluebirds go into the game with a fairly clean bill of health but youngster Rubin Colwill could be a doubt due to a hip injury .Cardiff manager Sabri Lamouchi has said that he will speak to the club's medical team before making any decision.

Club captain Joe Ralls could be available to start after recovering from a minor injury, as well as Callum O’Dowda who missed his side’s 0-1 loss to Sunderland on Easter Monday due to a groin problem.

Re: BREAKING SABRI LAMOUCHI: ‘ THURSDAY 13TH APRIL 2023 ‘

Cardiff’s Sabri Lamouchi said: "I feel this pressure,

I hope the players feel this pressure as well because it's exactly the same for the other teams."

"It's a difficult time for many people in different ways but everything is in our hands, it depends on us.

"We must not forget that for the moment. And play and to focus and to do what we have to do whilst thinking about that."

Sheffield United’s Paul Heckingbottom said:

“It's been different of late, they've been playing a lot longer and lot more direct.

"It's simple in what we are going to face. We are going to have to deal with that and balls on to our back line and into our box and do all the things we pride ourselves on and do them really well.

“We have been preparing for this and building for it. We are not taking any game lightly at all, playing against a side who are scrapping and fighting and who will make it as difficult as possible for us."
