Our keeper

Sat Apr 15, 2023 11:58 am

All opposing teams have to do is get a shot on target knowing he will not save it. EMBARRASSING :banghead:

He makes a few good ones. But yes, prone to the odd howler.

I'd blame the defence more than him for today though.

Mmm frustrating, they are having a go though and a strong looking bench as well :bluebird: :ayatollah: :bluebird:

It seems like opposition first shot on target more often than not goes in

Easily one of the worst keepers in the championship. Sooo poor. Embarrassing on crosses and zero command of his area.

Only Marshall and Etheridge have more individual clean sheets in a season than him in the last 10 years.

We haven't conceded that many goals this season.

It is up top we are truely poor, our worst attacking output in this division surely?

Dont blame the keeper, McGuiness Had an other howler today, He has been the cause of 3 goal recently which have all cost points :banghead:

No thanks to Allsop.

Can you name one game where his saves have won us or kept us any points?

Pathetic attempt to keep out a weak shot for the equaliser today and WTF was he doing at the corner that led to their fourth?

Worst first choice keeper we've had for years.

We have always seemed to have good keepers over the years, but allsop is simply pathetic. He has weak hands, and on crosses he’s simply pathetic. That last goal is absolutely embarrassing. He looked liked a dying fly by the time the ball hits the net.

Get rid please

New keeper please!.....if any are available on 'a free' in the summer.

He's not great, makes the odd good save but concedes goals a Championship goalkeeper shouldn't be conceding. His decision making when he leaves his goal line and penalty area is also bad.

But I don't think Alnwick is any better.

Truth is we've been spoiled with goalkeepers over the years. These are the worst couple of keepers we've had for a while because the others have been high quality.

Becoming a calamity keeper, teams will take pot shots against hin now.

If he was on a bus stop he would let 3 go past him.
Must be the worst goal keeper we have had in many a year, and we have had a few in the nearly 60 years i have watched City play.

Strangley i was going stick a post about the keeper!

One cardiffs strong points over the years have been our keepers. The current no1 is in my opinion the worst i have seen at Cardiff for over 50 years with the back up no better.

The defence also have issues but a keeper keeps you in the game or can win you a game with one great save.

Our keeper seems to push the balls to the sides of the goals into instead pushing the ball out or as in the old days catch it. Also crosses?? He does not command the 6 yard box. Could have stop a goal today by just taking a crosss but obviously not watching or not fancying it.

Then one on one you either stay back make yourself big to try save the shot or you take man and ball he does neither. I am just watching thinking gutless shit.

One of many of our problems ! :banghead: :banghead: :bluescarf:

Tend to agree with all your points , just think with a run of games Alnwick may do better as he had a previous reputation as a good shot stopper.

Agreed! When both were signed we were told "both could be starters". What's a leaky goalkeeper got to do to get dropped?

Anlwick got to start next game ffs.

Agree the defence looks shaky at times but they must be under extra pressure knowing what's behind them if they do make a mistake, if we can see it I'm sure they know it too. Hardly filling them with confidence.
I do believe we would have conceded alot more if it wasn't for the last ditch blocks this season. To me it seems there is at least half a dozen every game.
It would be nice if someone could find a stat for it

Thank you for the advice Chris, I had considered doing so, however felt so strongly about it that I did not want it ‘watered down’ in the match thread. Hope you understand.

Please do not tell Tan, but one of those cardboard policemen they use in supermarkets would be a cheaper option and probably save more shots  :laughing5:
