The current top two teams for possession in each league in England's top five leagues, with their league position in brackets:
Premier League: Manchester City (2nd) and Brighton (7th)
Championship: Burnley (1st) and Swansea (13th)
League One: Ipswich (2nd) and Bolton (6th)
League Two: Salford (7th) and Swindon (11th)
National League: Notts County (2nd) and Chesterfield (3rd)
Of those ten teams, six are currently in the top six in their league (admittedly Salford are in a play-off place as the places go down to 7th in that league).
Of those six teams, only Burnley are top of their league.

Maybe what i should have stated was that the top teams are all likely to have had more than 50% possession meaning possession is a vital stat in most cases

if you look at a full season take premiership last year too 10 all had more than 50% but bottom 10 all less than 50%
