Friday 21st April 2023

SABRI LAMOUCHI:

NEW INJURY UPDATE:

"Callum Robinson, Rubin Colwill and Connor Wickham will not be available for tomorrow. Jack Simpson, Jaden Philogene and Callum O'Dowda, we will see today.”

SABRI LAMOUCHI:

"The desire to play in the Championship next season is absolutely in my squad, and in our mind. We want to do everything we can to show them that we deserve to be where we are."

Sabri Lamouchi’s team got an impressive midweek away victory at Watford, their 2nd victory from their last 7 games, this Saturday they take on Stoke City who have nothing to play for.and have only won once in their last seven games.

SABRI LAMOUCHI:

"Philogene's injury is not serious, but he was not with us at Watford and we miss him a lot. He was with us in the stadium and came to support. He will, I hope, be available for Saturday."

SABRI LAMOUCHI:

“WE MUST MAKE THE RIGHT DECISIONS TOMORROW.”

SABRI LAMOUCHI:

"Sory Kaba will play in the UK next season," Lamouchi said. "I don't know if it will be in Cardiff or somewhere else. We can be honest. Kaba is doing absolutely everything to touch his dream."

"We will try to keep him. We will try to do our best. But it's not the time to think about that, it could be out of our hands."

The problem is its out of Kaba's and who ever the manager isnext seasons hands as City can not sign Kaba unless they get the Transfer Embargo lifted and finally pay the Sala fee to FC Nantes four years later.

"It's always great after a win." the boss began. "The atmosphere was a little bit different after this one, because it was probably unexpected. I'm really happy to see all the smiles from all the people walking around this building.

"They deserve the three points, they deserve to be happy. But we need to keep going, because it's not finished. It's a massive win, and a massive message.”

Philogene injury update:

Sabri Lamouchi hopes both Jaden Philogene and Rubin Colwill will be available for Cardiff's clash with Stoke City on Saturday.

Philogene has been one of the standout attacking players for the Bluebirds this season and it was felt his absence for the game against Watford would be keenly felt.

Cardiff, however, pulled a rabbit out of the hat and came away with an unlikely 3-1 win without Philogene. But Lamouchi hopes he will have recovered from his knee injury in time to face Stoke, along with Colwill, who has missed the last few games with a hip problem.

SABRI LAMOUCHI:

"He will be there. He was there with us," Lamouchi said of Philogene being back available. "He was in the stadium (at Vicarage Road), he saw the performance. And Jack Simpson as well and I hope Rubin Colwill as well.

"Philogene's injury is not serious, but he is not with us tonight and we miss him a lot. He was with us in the stadium and came to support. He will, I hope, be available for Saturday."

" Kaba has made a 'huge difference' "

Former striker-turned-pundit Clinton Morrison hailed both Sory Kaba and Lamouchi for their impacts over the last few months.

Kaba scored his seventh goal of the season in spectacular fashion, an overhead kick in the 3-1 win at Watford, while Lamouchi saw his side climb to the relatively heady heights of 19th place in the table.

Speaking on ITV's EFL highlights show, ex-Crystal Palace and Birmingham City man Morrison said: "Credit must go to Lamouchi, I think he has done an outstanding job since he's gone in there.

Clinton Morrison:

"If you said a month and a half ago that they would go to Watford and beat them so convincingly, they would have bitten your hands off.

"The way they are playing at the moment is brilliant and Kaba has made a huge difference. That's his seventh goal in 13 games. That is a goal that should win any football match. The way he chests it and finishes it, it's fantastic."

Re: SABRI LAMOUCHI:

SABRI LAMOUCHI:

He said: "I remember a team in trouble at the start of the season. They changed their manager, Alex Neil, after a perfect job at Sunderland, and he's doing a perfect job in Stoke as well.

"They have a very good squad. I love the three midfielders, for example - Pearson, Smallbone and Laurent. They have a good striker as well, experienced defenders, a very good team.

"Probably they are safe and waiting until the end of the season, but they will not give us anything. They will try to disturb us, and try to play.

"Our fans know that this game is really important. They know what we have done in Watford is massive, and we must absolutely keep going, be pragmatic, and get points. We must achieve our goal as soon as possible."

Ex Bluebird Nathan Blake believes that if the club is to form a solid footing and push on next season it must back a manager and stop the managerial merry-go-round.

Lamouchi's tenure has not been perfect, but it is hoped he can guide Cardiff to safety. He is the third man to have a crack in the Cardiff dugout this season and each of them have found it a struggle.

Sabri Lamouchi: Played 14 Won 5 Drawn 1 Lost 8

But Blake believes the lack of continuity and singular plan will continue to hamstring Cardiff unless they place their faith in a manager to carry out a long-term strategy.

NATHAN BLAKE:

"I think the difficulty is, it's not just the squad, it's the manager," Blake told the BBC. "Lamouchi has done a decent job, but I keep saying the constant switching of managers, I don't know how they expect to get results or success. It's just not done that way. The only team I know to have switched managers more and got success is Chelsea! And that's gone pear-shaped.

"You have to look at the players, they are accountable for the results with the manager. But if upstairs is a mess it tends to drift down into the team and that lack of confidence has been shown for so long.

"But I have to say, it's been topsy-turvy with Lamouchi, but results have come at the right time to get themselves out of the mire when it's most needed. It'll go until the end of the season. But two positive results in the next two games will get them over the line."

' CARDIFF CITY A STATE OF EMERGENCY SAYS '

Ex-Cardiff striker Robert Earnshaw has branded the Bluebirds' situation as a "state of emergency" and believes the club is too big to drop into League One.

Lamouchi called out the players' attitude after their limp performance in the 1-0 defeat at home to Sunderland last week and Earnshaw believes it was the right thing for him to do as it sparked a turnaround at Sheffield United, despite the result, and at Watford on Wednesday night.

ROBERT EARSHAW:

"It was great management," Earnshaw said. "Sometimes you've got to let the players know publicly too and tell them you're unhappy. I'm sure they would have told them in the dressing room, too.

"When they dropped points against Sunderland, and that performance, for him it was not the right attitude from his team. The players have to understand that. It's an emergency now for Cardiff City in the next few weeks that they stay in the Championship.

"If the performances, fight, determination, spirit and quality isn't there and it drops, that's not good enough for you to play in a Cardiff City shirt. It really is a state of emergency. Because Cardiff City is too big to go down a league. Minimum, they have to stay in the Championship."

Sabri Lamouchi makes big claim on Sory Kaba's Cardiff City future

The striker has been in sensational form for the Bluebirds in recent weeks

By Tom Coleman Sports Writer

Sory Kaba is loving life at Cardiff City

Cardiff City boss Sabri Lamouchi is "1,000 per cent" convinced star striker Sory Kaba wants to stay in the Welsh capital next season.

The problem is its out of Kaba's and who ever the manager isnext seasons hands as City can not sign Kaba unless they get the Transfer Embargo lifted and finally pay the Sala fee to FC Nantes four years later.

The 28-year-old has been at the heart of Cardiff's survival push since arriving on loan from Danish side Midtjylland in January, netting an impressive seven goals in 13 outings.

His latest effort in the impressive win over Watford on Wednesday night was arguably his best yet - a stunning overhead kick that many have already labelled as a goal of the season contender.

Kaba himself said after the game at Vicarage Road that he was enjoying being in south Wales, and Lamouchi admits Cardiff would be interested in retaining his services beyond the end of the current campaign, although the logistics of a move already seem uncertain.

SABRI LAMOUCHI:

"He will play in the UK next season," Lamouchi said. "I don't know if it will be in Cardiff or somewhere else. We can be honest. Kaba is doing absolutely everything to touch his dream.

"We will try to keep him. We will try to do our best. But it's not the time to think about that, it could be out of our hands."

"He came to help us. To save the club. He can't do more than that. He deserves to be in the UK next season, and if we can find the right way to sign him and to keep him."

"But for the moment, the most important thing is to save the club as soon as possible. He knows that. I know that. It's not about my personal case or about his personal case. It's about the situation of the club.

"This is the most important. He has absolutely a 1,000 per cent desire to stay with us."

' Sabri Lamouchi hits out at 'absolutely crazy' schedule '

Meanwhile, Sabri Lamouchi says Cardiff City's intense schedule isn't helping the cause for the walking wounded within his squad.

After the controversial abandonment up at Rotherham earlier in the season, Cardiff have one extra game to play compared to most of their relegation rivals, and Lamouchi believes the bruising fixture list is beginning to take its toll.

SABRI LAMOUCHI:

"Tomorrow's the sixth game in three weeks. The end of the season is absolutely tough for all clubs with suspensions , injuries, players being tired. There are a lot of problems for managers and squads, but what can we do? We just have to try to make the right decision and be positive.

"You will not find a team playing more than Cardiff in this short time. It's absolutely crazy. We were in Watford two days ago, we play Stoke tomorrow, we travel to Rotherham on Thursday night. We play them at 8pm. Then we play Sunday at midday.

"Huddersfield will have been waiting for us in 12 days. Rotherham play at home and then play Monday, not Sunday.

"It is what it is. It's not a complaint from my side it's just a fact.

"This is not fair because we are at the end of the season and in a bad situation. We have a lot of injury problems and we must find a solution. We will find a solution. We will be available to play Stoke, Rotherham, Huddersfield and Burnley."
