" One of the lowest budgets in the Championship "

Mon Apr 24, 2023 8:34 pm

Luton Town are in the bottom four in the Championship in terms of budget.

Yet they are going to be in the play-offs this season.

Won 2-1 against Middlesbrough tonight and now four points clear in third with two games to go.

Just shows what can be done with the right recruitment, even on a limited budget.

They have done exceptionally well Knowing one of the players I can tell you that their players are on near half of what we pay our players They have slowly been building a good team without stars that are well disciplined and play for each other
Good luck to them

The best signing any football club can make is a good manager. I do believe Sabri has potential, none of the current squad are his players. The first step is to be likeable and have the respect of the players.
But well done to Luton poor facilities and squad funds but punching above.

They seem to attract alot of players in recent years when in competition with others. Strange considering they are low budget. I get the "London pull" but these loyal stars tend to go for the cash.

Spot on, manager far and away the most important component in any team.

Never underestimate the London pull it has been noticeable for years. Smaller clubs in and around London do get an advantage from it.

Luton also have the advantage of a well connected airport nearby.

That said Luton have done amazingly on a small budget and very small crowds.

This adds to the new wave of football. Its not about catchment, history and bums on seats anymore. Any club can be "big" as in successful utilising newer business models, scouting and tactics.

Please do not forget the "playing the right way" crowd. Luton are direct and physical, we have a section who'd moan every win
