Sabri Lamouchi has insisted:

Sabri Lamouchi insisted no decisions would be made over his own future or indeed the players who are out of contract this summer until Cardiff City's Championship status is guaranteed for next term.

Lamouchi's deal with the club runs out in three games' time and he hopes to fulfil his remit of securing the club's position as a second-tier team.

So, when asked if there was any movement on the players' contracts or indeed his own future, it was perhaps unsurprising when the Bluebirds boss brought his bat down straight and replied:

“No. Unfortunately not."

“I asked a while back about a number of players and no one got back to me.”

That would leave a pretty sizeable hole to fill come next season if all were to depart. Lamouchi has already spoken about Kaba's desire to stay in the Welsh capital next year, but what about the others? And when, more pertinently, will calls be made and decisions be ratified.

"The players are happy here," Lamouchi said of the players he has in on loan. "Kaba, Cedric, Jaden. Jaden is doing a great season and Aston Villa are absolutely happy with his loan.

"Players at the end of their contract, they will go back. And after we are sure we are playing in the Championship next season, the club will do what they have to do."

Lamouchi joins Mark Harris, Connor Wickham, Tom Sang, Joel Bagan and other academy players in heading into the final months of his contract. But so, too, are loan players Sory Kaba, Jaden Philogene and Cedric Kipre.

What a stupid question- we need first to see which division we are in next season.
