positions needed next year

Sun Apr 30, 2023 2:53 pm

we need a CB.

Unlikely to be Kipre, we will need a partner to McGuinness.

We need a GK

Tho I suspect with both players staying we won’t consider it a priority but we’ve not found a keeper that can get us promoted in allsop.

We need a CAM/Winger (loan)

Doyle, Wilson, Philogene

We’ve had a few in this position in recent years and one good one can really open some doors for us. Colwill showed some promise today that he could be our Koumas, let’s hope he grows next season to compliment our loan star

We need a striker

But similar to GK, not a pressing priority in the eyes of the board if Etete, Robinson, Wickham & Davies are coming back next year.
.
Full use of loans plus 2/3 good pick ups and we will be better than last season.

Congrats for sticking with the team this season bluebirds it’s been a nightmare but we are in a stronger spot with lamouchi. No 17 signings this summer so more chance to be selective. If only the £ will be there to match our realistic ambitions..

Two centre halves

Two midfielders

Right winger

Two strikers.

At minimum

A decent goalkeeper.

Two centre half's.

Left back cover for Collins.

Two midfielders - one ball winner, one creative.

A right winger to replace Philogene.

Two strikers.

And that's just to avoid another relegation fight.

Agree. Only one striker if we get Kaba.

Let's simplify it and look at the players we own, who's loans are ending and the generally accepted first choice players.

Sabri seems to like 3-5-2 in general.

Allsop

Kipre - GONE
McGuinness
Ng

Romeo
O'Dowda
Philogene - GONE
Ralls
Wintle

Kaba - GONE
Etete

Kaba, Philogene and Kipre have been arguably our three best players. All loans, all unlikely to stay.

So we need to replace or keep them plus four or five other positions.

That's without thinking about players who can come on and make a difference.

Admittedly we do have Robbo and Collins to come back from injury by next season. Peake is also promising.

But players who know they'll be in the Championship next season will have watched on Sky today. They won't fancy the prospect of playing with Ojo and Sawyers.

We need an additional left back/ left wing back. Odowda will be more use higher up the field and may lessen the blow of losing philogene. Not as tricky. But still a solid championship player.

We all seem to have forgotten about adams, hoping he can do a job box to box. And hopefully peake will show some potential. Still worried about where the goals will come from but odowda playing further uo field should help the creativity.

There's effectively four new signings with Robbo, Adams, Collins and Peake
