SABRI LAMOUCHI WANTS REASSURANCES FOR NEXT SEASON

Sun Apr 30, 2023 3:43 pm

SABRI LAMOUCHI:

“I want to stay, but I need to know who I can sign and who I can offer new contracts too.”

"It's not my decision. Not only my decision. Of course, I am free to decide, but I am happy here. I was surprised, honestly, when they called me, the situation of the club. I said yes because of the club. It's a massive club and they deserve to stay in the Championship. I'm proud about that."

“I have asked about players contracts and never had replies from above, so now hopefully I will get them.”

Lamouchi has previously hinted that a number of things would have to change in order for the club to start battling at the top end of the table next season if he were to remain in charge. He reiterated that if the club's ambition is to challenge for the play-offs and beyond next season, then they cannot expect to make little changes and get big results.

"In my opinion, if you are doing just a little change, don't be surprised if you have just something a little different," he said. "I don't think the owner, chairman or people in the club, the fans, want to live the same season again and again . Obviously we need a massive decision from the club. Because we were so close [to relegation]. But we will play next season in the Championship, where Cardiff City Football Club are meant to be."

He said: "I am focused only on my job every day. I am available 24 hours a day. For me, we deserve to talk about that not next week, the week before. Now we are safe, we will probably meet and talk about the future of the club, the most important thing."

Cardiff would not have wanted to finish the season at home on such a disappointing note, but the 2-1 defeat by Neil Warnock's side was a poor showing. While he is unhappy with his side's display, Lamouchi is proud of their achievement over the last few months.

t is not exactly how we want to finish our season but, as I said to the players, one month ago… we would have paid to be safe before this game," he said of the game. "Of course we are not happy, but our goal was to stay in the Championship and Cardiff deserve to be in the Championship, so job done.

"At the beginning of the season there were 17 new players, and I'm the third manager [but] we made it, we saved the club. It is a massive achievement. Three months ago I signed for this massive club and said there is enough quality to stay in the Championship and we did it."

Don't blame him.

He'll speak to Tan/Boris/Choo after Burnley.

If they tell him there's no way money can be spent, I wouldn't be surprised and wouldn't blame him if he walked.

Miracle he kept us up. This is a League One squad and there has to be investment or we will be a third tier club again in 2024.

I'd like to think this is a wake up call to the hierarchy, but they're all clowns so not so sure.

Sabri is the best manager we cam attract, if they can't keep him because they won't pay the bills and won't invest in the squad then they deserve what's coming to them.

But us fans don't deserve it.

Don't blame him at all if he walks if he is not supported.

I can't see him staying because I doubt Tan will support him in a big way that is required. Tan told us what he wants now lets have some action from him.

The politician was there today but how can you believe anything that comes out of his mouth ?
Think Sabri and Sol will get a better offer and go IMHO.
