" The simple fact "

This is the fact.

Big changes need in the summer or we will be a League One club in 2024.

If next season is going to be the same from mr tan i would have rather gone down at least we would be winning some games new aways and not getting whooped every week apart from norwich home 1st game of the season bristol home and rotherham away i don' t think i smiled at a game.

Wigan a, Sunderland a, Blackpool a, perhaps the players don't like our home fans.

That performance was Wank today.

Next season will be groundhog day if Tan is still dictator of the club.

Its also a fact that Reading cheated financially. They deserved to go down like Derby did last year. I think we deserved to stay up- but only just! We never went into the relegation zone all season. However, we were awful and deserved nothing more than 21st. It has to be a wake up call or this will only be a stay of execution until next year.

Agree with you 100%.

It's also not a fact that we would have been relegated, highly likely and deserved but not a fact.

If there was anything on it I believe we would have beaten Huddersfield so we would have been safe anyway

Re: " The simple fact "

We caught a few team's cold early doors. Jamilu Collins was a revelation, but teams would have found a solution after they studied him. We were like a promoted team, overachieving for the first third but then reality struck.

Hopefully, this was the base of the valley and we are on an upward trajectory again.

Its been a really weird season. The teams with traditionally smaller budgets but well-run within their structure are doing really well and the bigger looser clubs are nowhere near where they need to be. I still think the post-Covid financial realities have to hit other clubs.

Six starters with this season's first team and we have a decent squad, not challenging but we shouldn't be worrying.

Ned, not aimed at you but you raised the point...

I agree on the 'big changes' but for so many to bleat on about this Reading thing frustrates me...

Reading caused their own issues and got what they deserved probably last season never mind this...

And who is to say how we might have performed or what side we might have picked under different pressures or circumstances...?

I cerrainly don't think that would have been our starting XI today, I don't believe we would have capitulated against Huddersfield the way we did and we'd all be on here berating Sory Kaba for not one but two crap penalties in two games that cost us 4 points and 18th place instead of Huddersfield...

Fine margins and the history books will simply show Cardiff City as a Championship team for 2023/24 and not how they achieved it... :ayatollah:

You're not alone with the frustration at people bleating on about us being relegated if it hadn't been for Reading's 6 point deduction, nobody knows what would have happened because it didn't happen, we can only speculate.

What would have happened is that we would have not given up playing after the Rotherham game.

Also Reading would have sold their best players to avoid the deduction and been a worse team.

If the board dont push the boat out with wages for loans and free transfers and be clever in recruitment we will go down.

This season was the wake up call - No striker brought in at the start of the season - Struggled from the start ...
Endless managers - Having a Go.... Thank God for Kaba and the points deduction from other clubs .

Don't mention points deduction as according to some that had no relevance.

Can't really say that in my opinion. (we would of gone down if Reading didn't get deducted points) we secured our safety with 3 games to go as soon as we achieved that then it's a totally different mind set and approach. The outcomes of the other games would of been different. Different players, different tactics, different levels of commitment etc... I agree we were shite and lucky but at the end of the day we were safe with 3 games to go.

Not a fact, simple or otherwise

And even if it was, reading broke the rules for two seasons in a row

No, Jules; certainly not from my point. Every game and every incident had 'relevance' but the Reading thing being used as the only reason the Bluebirds survived and that is blatantly not correct

There were so many reasons our season started well, soon went sour (ironically the loss away at Reading was the start) and then continued at the cost of two managers/coaches. It has been a fragmented season but as a team we managed to claw our way to safety with effectively two games to go

The Reading thing still gets my goat too. The simple fact is come the end of the season we needed to beat Blackpool and Rotherham away and we threw in a fine win at Watford for good measure.

Who knows how the games would have panned out had Reading not been deducted points. As a for instance, Huddersfield were in danger of being cut adrift but with Reading's deduction they had hope and something to aim at.

As I said earlier " ifs and buts "
Cheats should have been sent down 2 divisions IMHO.
