Rubin Colwill Today?

Mon May 08, 2023 6:19 pm

How did he play today? I see he got a start. What position did lamouchi play him? See he got substituted half time was this tactical or due to performance?

He was crap Mehmet, don't pin your hopes on selling him for millions. He's the jewel in a Christmas cracker crown.

None of them at the races today.
He needs a run of games and to be played in a number 10 role.
Hopefully we will see it next season.

That’s exactly right. We can’t expect a youngster to come in and turn it on in a start here and there.

He needs a run of 7/8 games, stay fit, and then we can judge properly.

I agree with this. Cant judge him on this season, hes either been injured, not fully fit or playing in the wrong position out wide.
Hopefully when fully fit and played as a 10 we can have a very good player like a new signing next season, glimpses of class in a city shirt and looked very good in a wales shirt when played too so there is some hope

Stick or twist time for the club though. A year left, if he has the hardest of hard preseasons and starts showing more than glimpses then we could lose him for free next year or do we extend for two years and hope we can crack the code?

god knows what i'd do

Yet you have discounted Whyte who was never given that.

You will say he’s not a youngster but he was 23 when he signed for us and it’s true of players any age.

But Whyte is now 27.

You could argue we shouldn’t have signed him if he wasn’t going to play but 4/5 (!!) managers have watched him, trained with him and none have them have picked him.

He’s not awful but neither is he someone who has stood out. Colwill has had, albeit fleeting, moments of brilliance and is over 6 years younger. I don’t think you can compare them.

We have had many managers who have seen Colwill up close and chosen not to pick him.

You choose not to compare them. I’ll do a comparison.

Whyte 14 games this season 1 goal 1 assist.
Colwill 20 games this season. 0 goals 1 assist.

Honestly think we missed a trick with Whyte but best of luck to the lad wherever he ends up.

Well if you want to quote full Championship stats here you go:

Whyte - aged 27 - games 46 - Goals 1 - Assists 2
Colwill - aged 21 - games 60 - Goals 5 - Assists 2

I can’t be bothered to look up the actual number of starts but seeing as this season Colwill has only made 2/3 I would wager that’s not in Whyte’s favour either !!

Please tell me, based on those stats, why Whyte is a better player to keep than Whyte.

I won’t hold my breathe !!!

I’ll do it for you.

Whyte 3 starts and 11 sub appearances with 1 goal 1 assist

Colwill 4 starts and 16 sub appearances with 0 goals 1 assist

Whyte has 5 goals in 30 games for Northern Ireland.

9 goals in 47 games for oxford.

My point is that he hasn’t been given a chance.

We shall see I guess. He’s going Oxford or Portsmouth
