He needs a run of games and to be played in a number 10 role.
Hopefully we will see it next season.

That’s exactly right. We can’t expect a youngster to come in and turn it on in a start here and there.
He needs a run of 7/8 games, stay fit, and then we can judge properly.

Yet you have discounted Whyte who was never given that.
You will say he’s not a youngster but he was 23 when he signed for us and it’s true of players any age.

But Whyte is now 27.
You could argue we shouldn’t have signed him if he wasn’t going to play but 4/5 (!!) managers have watched him, trained with him and none have them have picked him.
He’s not awful but neither is he someone who has stood out. Colwill has had, albeit fleeting, moments of brilliance and is over 6 years younger. I don’t think you can compare them.

We have had many managers who have seen Colwill up close and chosen not to pick him.
You choose not to compare them. I’ll do a comparison.
Whyte 14 games this season 1 goal 1 assist.
Colwill 20 games this season. 0 goals 1 assist.

Whyte 14 games this season 1 goal 1 assist.
Colwill 20 games this season. 0 goals 1 assist.
Well if you want to quote full Championship stats here you go:
Whyte - aged 27 - games 46 - Goals 1 - Assists 2
Colwill - aged 21 - games 60 - Goals 5 - Assists 2
I can’t be bothered to look up the actual number of starts but seeing as this season Colwill has only made 2/3 I would wager that’s not in Whyte’s favour either !!
Please tell me, based on those stats, why Whyte is a better player to keep than Whyte.
I won’t hold my breathe !!!

Whyte has 5 goals in 30 games for Northern Ireland.
