Nathan Jones rumour?

Wed May 10, 2023 4:28 pm

There’s a strong rumour going around that he will be our next manager. I'll be really pleased if it happens

Re: Nathan jones

Wed May 10, 2023 4:45 pm

Where is this rumour? I haven't seen anything. He is being linked with Huddersfield though.

But I hope this isn't true, just when you thought things couldn't get any worse.

Did alright at Luton (they've done better since he left), failed at Stoke and turned into David Brent at Southampton.

The majority of Southampton fans think that if Selles had come in instead of Jones, they would have had a better chance of staying up.

Jones only gets a few supporters' backing with us because he supports the club, if he was from London then nobody would want him.

The majority of sensible fans want Sabri to stay and I hope he does.

Re: Nathan jones

I would love either as it means no more rookies.

I want Nathan more because I believe he is a builder and we need a builder.

Stoke and Southampton both had terrible squads compared to the expectations of their fans, both have an entitlement and sense of grandeur. A little fidgety Rhondda boy is not what they wanted, they believe they should have Carlos Kickabout straight from La Liga.

Lamouchi was what we needed, a fixer and he'll improve us if he stays on another season but he appears to be a one and done sort of manager, shit or bust. Love him to stay but prefer Nathan, who gets us

Re: Nathan jones

Wed May 10, 2023 5:34 pm

I do honestly believe that Nathan Jones is the manager we need right now. Knows the lower league players inside out, will no doubt know who to sign to at least improve us. No brain er. Go get him while we can.

Meanwhile the three musketeers sit on their backsides , keeping everyone in the dark including Sabri

Absolute joke

Re: Nathan jones

He done brilliant at Luton twice on very little money he’s the right manager for us as we got no money

Agree

We missed out to Luton when they replaced Jones for another Welsh manager who may take them up. I would love Nathan here

Remind me why do Luton have Edwards?

Went to the wrong club and then went to a well-set-up club and continued the good work

Spot on.

As you say, if Nathan Jones wasn’t Welsh nobody would want him.

He did OK at Luton but they’ve done better without him and failed at Stoke and Southampton (pretty dismally).

His Luton team played more direct than Warnock !!

I just don’t get the demand for Jones.

Re: Nathan jones

We have not improved under Sabri Lamouchi and Sol. Disaster waiting to happen. Stay with them and we we be relegated. Much rather take a chance with Jones.

I'm with you both on this, guys and I don't see the love-in... :ayatollah:

Equally, I've trawled the different media and found nothing to support keanos (I'll be polite) suggestion...

This club is upside down right now and no decisions are expected this week, including on the future of Sabri Lamouchi (for most the obvious choice to carry) who was also rumoured to have had 'disappointing' talks with the owner; but again, that is unsubstantiated...

Time will tell but there will undoubtedly be surprises ahead...

Head to head, in this division... Jones has built a more successful team than Sabri. Probably had more opportunity etc, but for me either would be better than a Hudson, Morisson, Harris, etc etc

If this is a two horse race, then get it sorted ASAP and move on.

My pick would be Jones. Those saying "if he wasn't Welsh, he wouldn't be in the frame" wre bang on, but what nonsense. He IS Welsh, loves our club and is available. Surely that's some very rare boxes ticked for Cardiff City??

If Sabri decides not to stay then yes give a call, but Sabri first for me.

If you look closely you'll see there's a reason why he wouldn't be a success here. He had time to build Luton up into what they are today. Maybe you see it different but I just can't see our fans giving him the time to replicate the good work he did at Luton. After 10-12 games if we weren't pushing for promotion there would be loads(on here anyway) calling for his head.

Same with Sabri. No manager will get time here with our fans.

You don't have to be a successful football club owner to see that we need stability and patience.

As I said, either/or would do, then a solid season to build (whatever the outcome).

Why we go after managers when things get tough baffles me. When players like Ojo and our useless owners/CEO etc get off relatively quietly other than some abuse on social media.

Countering all the above though, I don't think Pep or Klopp would bring success to us unless something drastic changes; OR we lower expectations and accept we're a bottom of the championship club who'll battle relegation until Tan fucks off or we go down into impending administration.

Jones has not built a more successful team than Lamouchi though has he ?

Lamouchi was lauded by Forest fans for nearly getting them promoted with very little budget and before their takeover.

Jones was poor at Stoke and at Luton he didn’t do any better than Lamouchi at Forest.

Straight pound for pound, Sabris best finish in this league is 7th, during his single year at Forest. Jones' is 6th (last year) and his squad are comfortably in the play offs this year.

It's been reported during most seasons that Luton are operating in the lower category of playing budgets.

Sabri then saved us from relegation.

Jones' Luton (over 2 spells) pretty much have improved their league position every year for the past 8 years; with back to back promotions.

Say what you like about his sabbatical to other clubs, he's proven at this level, and in my opinion, more than Sabri.

Again though, I'd take either.

Got to agree added bonus he's a cardiff fan .

I like Sabri and Sol for what they done at the back end of this season (Just wished we could have kept some of those loans)
Sadly not with the embargo and other matters ....

As for Nathan Jones - The board could pay him £5K a week and he would take the job - He does not need the money :o
As posted at the time - He got paid out at least £3Millon + from his Southampton contract - Remember :?: :?: :?:

He would have paid out half of that amount in tax At his age it will not set him up for life if he does not get another well paid job thou No way would we get him for £5k a week unless he has no other offers

rumour started by who ?
haven’t heard zilch
not my kind of manager.. failed at Stoke and Southampton..
take away the fact that he is Welsh and likes Cardiff, I can’t see the appeal .
Awful style of football.

Not for me …Southampton was a disaster for him so prefer Sabri and Sol any day …they deserve a chance

Re: Nathan Jones rumour?

Some of Sabri's selections and matchday formations were straight out of Mike Bassetts playbook.

The playing the right way brigade will be disappointed in either SL or NJ

I don't care if its either, but lets not pretend SL plays the beautiful game.

NJ is a high work rate, high commitment manager, not sure Southamptons "footballers" fancied that.

Needs his type of player - Ralls, Perry, WIntle, Rimonhota, McGuiness, Romeo, O'Dowda, Issak Davies (Eli King ?),Etette, Robinson runs a lot but not the toughest then there is Sawyers, Ojo and Colwill :?

We wouldn't be far away from his type of squad
